STORRS, CT (March 7) Freshman standout Leslie Hurlburt (Markham, Ontario) notched the first hat-trick of her career, running her season goals total to nine but the University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team dropped its season finale 4-3 to Maine on Sunday afternoon at the UConn Ice Arena in Storrs. With the loss, the Huskies conclude the 2003-04 campaign with an overall mark of 9-19-6 and a league mark of 5-11-4. Maine improves to 12-15-4, 9-9-2.

    – Four ETSU athletes traveled to the mideast regional outdoor track and field meet this weekend to compete for a spot in the NCAA nationals. Kristin Truman (Johnson City, Tenn.) competed in the triple jump event posting a 39”-11.50’ mark, her second-best career jump. Also competing in the field events category was freshman Anna Marie Riccardi (Canfield, Ohio) who was unable to score during the event.

    Men's Golf Choose a Sport... - - - - MEN'S - - - - Baseball Basketball Cross Country Golf Soccer Tennis Track and Field Basketball Cross Country Golf Soccer Softball Tennis Track and Field Volleyball May 19 USI men’s golf signs five The University of Southern Indiana men’s golf team announced the signing of five new players for the 2004-05 season. USI Head Coach Matt Scheessele signed two from Indiana and three players from Illinois.
    Teammates Brandon Howard and Eric Morlock travel down the road from Mt. Vernon, Indiana, to join the Screaming Eagles this fall.
    Howard, a two-time All-Big Eight Conference performer at MVHS, was the sectional medalist and a regional qualifier in 2002 and 2003. He also was the Evansville Junior Golf City Champion and Player of the Year in 2003.
    Howard, whose brother, Kyle, played basketball at USI, lettered in soccer, golf, and basketball at Mt. Vernon High School.
    Morlock, who lettered in golf, tennis, and basketball at MVHS, was the team’s Most Valuable Player in 2003.

A basketball coach who gave a 13-year-old player a "Crybaby Award" at a season-ending team banquet will be allowed to keep his teaching job. Slideshow: 'Crybaby Coach' In Trouble With School Board James Guillen, 24, agreed Thursday to accept sanctions imposed by district Superintendent Edwin Coyle, including an unpaid five-day suspension from his teaching job and the forfeiture an upcoming $3,000 pay raise. Guillen, who would not comment on the matter, also must attend sensitivity training and make a public apology. He also will be banned from coaching any district athletic teams.
