Trampolining 2
Well, today I had my first opportunity to go boing boing on the trampolines. I discovered that I am way out of shape. Every time I came down off the trampoline, my heart was racing. I thought that maybe I was dehydrated, so I drank some water. That made me nauseous, and I started feeling faint. I had to sit down for the last five minutes of class. I suppose the fact that I've gained twenty pounds since coming to Oregon should have clued me into the fact that my body was rapidly degenerating into a big gob of goo. I will definitely have to do something about that right away. Of course, there may have been other factors. I had only gotten one and a half hours of sleep the night before. And I hadn't eaten anything yet. Plus I may be sick, since I still have a sore throat, although it is getting better. In any case, now that I finally have access to trampolines, I will let nothing prevent me from going boing boing! I also learned of the existence of special yellow trampolines. They are supercharged. When you jump on them, you go way up. I saw people easily attaining more than ten feet of altitude. The instructor told us that we could not bounce on those until we had demonstarted a very high level of control. I don't blame her; if someone were to miscalculate just a little bit, they could easily end up shooting off the edge and flying halfway across the gymnasium.

Trampolining
Published on September 23, 2002 at 13:22 Trampolining and tumbling are as old as man and are a reflection of man's desire to defy the ever-pervading presence of gravity. A bunch of Bradford students enjoy themselves bouncing around and generally having a lot of fun on a trampoline. Easy? Well, yes, but try and pull off a back somersault, followed by the other nine moves in the routine, and things get tricky! So why do we bounce? The feeling of freedom. Up there, albeit for a couple of seconds a jump, you are flying. Okay, not quite, but it feels like it. The great thing is the control. Being able to hurl yourself into the air from a 250kg piece of apparatus, pull an awe-inspiring move and land to do another one is such a thrill. (And you can innocently ask people “How high do you get at university?) This year we plan to expand even further. with a new trampoline enabling us to perform more death defying stunts and shapes in the air! We plan to run the first ever Bradford University trampolining competition and as usual attend a number of competitions including in Scotland, Ireland, Manchester and the BUSA trials. These competitions will enable bouncers of all standards to compete and generally have fun. They often have an element of wackiness to them aswell– ever tried synchronised trampolining or fancy dress trampolining? No? – Well these competitions provide the opportunity for this! Completions include a novice category - usually no somersaults, intermediate – front somersault required, advanced and then tariff (really, really tricky stuff). Its scary to watch but it is amazing. You can compete at what ever level you like so don't be too sacred to come along and give it a go!

91. What Is Trampolining?
What Is trampolining? The style of trampolining can vary from just jumping up and down, to doing something that looks really cool and exciting.
http://www.keele.ac.uk/socs/ks61/pages/what.html
What Is Trampolining?
Remember when you were young and you used to jump on your bed (even though Mummy and Daddy told you not to!) ? Well, thats about the best description of it... jumping up and down on a bed. Ok, so its a slightly different bed and you do higher, more impressive bounces on a trampoline. So you know, from here on in a trampoline can be known as a 'bed'. The style of trampolining can vary from just jumping up and down, to doing something that looks really cool and exciting. Moves include front somersaults, back flips, and baranis. Once you've managed to get hold of the basics you can start putting routines together, and before you know it you'll be in competitions. Generally, competition routines consist of 10 moves. The routine depends on the competition, check out the competitions page for some examples. If you want to know more have a look on our FAQs page, or come along to one of our training sessions and have a watch and chat with some members.
