Headlines May 18, 2004 TWELVE SWIMMERS AND DIVERS NAMED BIG WEST SCHOLAR-ATHLETES IRVINE, Calif. - Kareem Adnan, Megan Baker, Franny Brittle, Kim Do, Matt Howell, Codi Jensen, Michael McKeehan, Stephanie Moore, Surok Pattanasinth, Danny Puchalski, Jayme Yahr and Abby Zern were among the school-record 176 UCI student-athletes who were honored as 2003-04 Big West Conference Scholar-Athletes at the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics' annual banquet Monday night at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. This year's honorees bring UCI's total to 2,397 conference scholar-athletes since 1983. Requirements for this award include maintaining a 3.0 grade-point average (GPA) over three quarters or a 3.2 GPA over two quarters for freshmen. Student-athletes must also earn letters in their sports. The Scholar-Athlete award was implemented by the Big West Conference to honor those student-athletes that have maintained a high level of scholastic excellence while participating in intercollegiate athletics.

2000-01 Results 2001-02 Results BIG GREEN MEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING RECORDS Monday, March 10, 2003 DARTMOUTH MEN'S SWIMMING ANNOUNCES TEAM AWARDS HANOVER, N.H. The Dartmouth men's swimming and diving team announced its team awards on Monday after completing the 2002-03 season last weekend. Junior Ryan Goldhahn (Stockton, Calif.) earned the squad's Karl B. Michael award, given to the athlete who contributes the most to the team. Goldhahn has been a key member for the Big Green this season and recently broke the school record in the 100-yard freestyle at the Eastern Intercollegiate Swimming League Championships with a time of 45.12. Sophomore Michael Hipps (New Bern, N.C.) was named the winner of the John C. Glover Trophy, which is awarded to the most inspirational swimmer each season. Hipps was a diverse member of the Big Green squad, swimming on several relay teams in addition to individual events. Hipps finished 11th in the 100 back at the EISL Championships with a time of 51.42. John Reidy (Albuquerque, N.M.) was named the team's most outstanding freshman. After his first season, Reidy already owns the school record in the 200 fly with a time of 1:50.96. He placed 12th in the event at the EISL Championships. Freshman Brandon Piper (Fort Washington, Pa.) earned the Paul E. Tsongas award, given annually to the most improved swimmer on the team.
