Pier to Perignon - How the race was won
The 16th running of this event took place on Saturday 13th 2004 in what many described as the best conditions for years.
Despite a malicious late circulating furphy that the tide calculations had been stuffed-up by the Club's tidal Guru the event was completed in the respectable time of 39.30 by the winner of the 2001 and 2003 event Nicholas Humphrey.

Portsea's Gold Nugget Congratulations to Daniel "Nugget" Smith on winning the Gold Medal in the Under 19 Men`s Beach Flags at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships. This victory last Saturday on the Gold Coast, caps off a sensation year for Daniel who also won the Gold medal in the Under 19 and Open Men's Beach Flags, at the Victorian Championships a few weeks ago. Members Feedback Sitemap Search ... SurfCam JAN JUC SURF LIFE SAVING CLUB The Jan Juc SLSC was established by members of the local community in 1963 next to an old Cobb and Co watering hole. The club today boasts more than 580 members. Clubhouse facilities have been upgraded over recent years including separate male and female accommodation, a junior and nipper lounge, an extended kitchen and bar and wrap around deck. A major part of these renovations were completed in September 2001, with all extensions completed in February 2002. The club patrols during the summer season every Saturday, Sunday and public holiday, and holds numerous social and competitive events such as the:
  • Golf Day at Torquay Golf Club (4th January, 2005)
  • Bells Bash , a run between Jan Juc and Bells Beach held on the eve of the Danger 1000 (Saturday 1st January, 2005)
  • Danger 1000 Ocean Swim held at the Torquay Front Beach (Sunday 2nd January, 2005).
The club also offers a wide range of programs for nippers, age 7 to 13 on Wednesdays and Saturdays (10.00am-12.00pm) commencing Saturday 26th December, 2004 to Saturday 23rd January, 2005. The club is situated on the cliff top, over looking the Jan Juc beach in one direction and Torquay golf course in the other. These facilities can be hired. For enquiries, click on the

North Cott ended another great season with an even greater Annual Dinner. Just under 200 guests celebrated "the season that was" at the Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle. This year Renato Bruno, Patrol Officer won Club Member of the Year, a deserving recipient of the award with many hours dedicated on his behalf to ensuring that North Cott beach is patrolled.
