Tasmania Paddle around Tasmania on this site These pages contain many images digitized from sea kayaking Videos T asmania is a relatively small island state, 200km south of the rest of Australia. With a diverse coastline, ranging from drowned river valleys to sweeping sandy beaches, it is a sea kayakers' paradise. A number of off shore islands, often in strong tidal currents, make sea kayaking even more interesting. Some parts of the island are exposed to the might of the Southern Ocean and Roaring Forties winds. Other parts are relatively calm and sheltered. Tasmanian sea kayakers have developed equipment and techniques suited to paddling in exposed waters. Some of these initiatives have now spread around the world. In these pages you will be able to visit some of Tasmania's prime sea kayaking areas. I hope this might encourage some of you to visit these areas in the future. In the meantime I hope you enjoy these pictures.

Paddling with Coastal Kayaking Tours will give you a fresh perspective on the rockbound coast of Maine.
48 Cottage Street, Bar Harbor, Maine
abckt@prexar.com

Welcome to Coastal Kayaking Tours, the favorite choice of people who want to go sea kayaking in Maine. Why? Because of our small groups and our personalized, please-the-guest philosophy, and because we have more experience leading sea kayaking trips than anyone else in New England. Best of all, our kayaking trips are just plain fun! We paddle in ultra-stable tandem kayaks (two people to a boat), so you can virtually eliminate the possibility of tipping over.
Over 22 years, we've built our Maine sea kayaking reputation not only on our guides' expertise, but on the small group experience and camaraderie that we provide. As the industry leader, we offer a wider variety of sea kayaking trips in Maine than any other outfitter, employ an excellent staff of Registered Maine Guides and paddle the widest variety of routes on the island-studded, rockbound coast of Maine. That's why so many of our guests come back to Bar Harbor year after year to go sea kayaking with Coastal.
We have thousands of satisfied customers dating back to 1982, and we welcome both beginners and seasoned paddlers. Our guests almost always comment on our guides' expertise and friendliness, and they recognize that our knowledge of the entire Down East Maine coast is unparalleled. From Deer Isle to the Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park region all the way to the waters bordering Canada, we know all the best paddling areas. You'll come away with a new appreciation not only for sea kayaking but for the area's wildlife and natural history.

Jackie can be reached via email by sending a message addressed to jackie such as johndoe@paddlewise.net but substitute johndoe with jackie. The address is not displayed here to avoid web harvesting by spammers... which I really hate! :-/ I hope you enjoy viewing these original ascii graphics as much as I have enjoyed creating them. All images are of my own design and no part has been borrowed from any other works. Many of the ideas for these cartoons took on life as a result of discussions on the newsgroup rec.boats.paddle, the GASP! list , the Wave~Length and PaddleWise lists and through personal experiences (yup, I really did experience three dolphins jumping out of the water at once just off the bow of my sea kayak). It is my hope that these images may generate interest in awareness of our fragile marine environment and its wildlife as well as the wonderful sport of sea kayaking. Please note, all graphics are and can only be used/reproduced with the creator's permission... and that would be me :-) If you enjoy these ascii images, you might also like to check out my ascii art page on
