Triple Crown of Harness Racing for Pacers
Word: Word Starts with Ends with Definition The Triple Crown of Harness Racing for Pacers consists of the following horse races Harness racing is a form of horse-racing in which the horses race in a specified gait. They also usually pull two-wheeled carts called sulkies, although races to saddle are still occasionally conducted. In most jurisdictions harness races are restricted to standardbred horses although cold-blooded horses are raced in Scandinavia. Standardbreds are so called because in the early years of the Standardbred stud book only horses who could trot or pace a mile in a standard time, or whose progeny could do so, were entered into the book.

  • Cane Pace The Cane Pace is a harness horse race run annually since 1955. In 1956 the race joined with the Little Brown Jug and the Messenger Stakes to become the first leg in the Triple Crown of Harness Racing for Pacers. Task force to investigate harness race accident
Saturday, 8 May 2004 WorkSafe has asked Harness Racing Victoria to establish a safety task force following last weekend's accident in Bendigo which left a spectator seriously injured. Jason Hyatt, 11, was crushed when a runaway horse crashed through the spectator barrier at Lord's Raceway, leaving him in a critical condition. Harness Racing Victoria spokesman Sean Kelly says the boy was released from hospital yesterday and is improving. Mr Kelly says WorkSafe has recommended the implementation of a task force to establish if there are ways to minimise the risk of a repeat accident.

Ron Marsh earns 5,000th career win at Balmoral
Monday, May 3, 2004 Special to the Daily Southtown Driver Ron Marsh earned his 5,000th career win Saturday night at Balmoral Park. By winning with Cold Cold Heart in Saturday's seventh race at the Crete track, Ron and his father, Joe Jr., became the first father-son tandem in harness history to earn 5,000 wins each. "My dad was a giant influence on me," Ron said. "Without him, I probably wouldn't be in business. In my mind, my father was one of the best in our sport. At one time, he was tops as a driver and trainer.'' Joe Marsh Jr. won harness titles at Sportsman's Park from 1971-74. Joe Jr., 70, went into semi-retirement in 2001. He still rides occasionally for his younger son Robert's stable and has 5,878 career wins. Ron Marsh, 50, began riding on the Chicago harness circuit in 1977. "His horsemanship skills are just great," Ron said of his father. "He taught me everything I know and then it was up to me to go out and refine my skills to be a successful driver. I am so lucky that he was here to join me on this night and it really means more to me than anybody knows." Ron Marsh's "breakout" year came in 1980 when he piloted 169 winners. For the next 14 seasons, he posted at least 200 winners with a career high 410 in 1990. Ron captured four Sportsman's Park driving titles in the 1980s and posted back-to-back crowns at Maywood Park in 1984-85.

A relatively new breed, the origins of the breed trace back to an English Thoroughbred named Messenger who was foaled in 1780 and exported to the United States in 1788. He was the great-grandsire of Hambletonian 10 to whom every present day Standardbred can trace its blood-lines. HARNESS PACING The Standardbred is more muscled and longer in the body than the Thoroughbred. It is smaller, standing 15 - 16 hh and has a larger head. They have a docile and willing temperament. Harness Racing
Harness racing dates back to the 1800's in America and the legendary sire Hambletonian. The horse used for harness racing is the Standardbred, referred to as such due to the speed required for entry into the breed register. Today, the sport is becoming increasingly popular both here in Ireland and in other European countries. In Ireland, the Irish Harness Racing Club (IHRC) which is a subsidiary of the British Harness Racing Club (BHRC) governs harness racing. The rules and regulations may be found in BHRC Rule Book, regarding registration, qualifying, dress codes for drivers, disciplinary action etc. For example, under rule 81 "all drivers must wear a skull cap, white trousers, proper racing colours and be presentable at all times". The major race track in Ireland is Portmarnock Raceway, Co. Dublin. Other smaller tracks around the country include Aghalee, Co. Antrim and Cork. A proposed new track , Built by Mr Patrick McDonagh, is due to be opened on Easter Sunday 2002, in Coalisland. This is the only official track in Northern Ireland.

    New Virus Alert - 04/05/2003
As of May 2, 2004 10:07 PM (PST), TrendLabs has declared a High Risk Virus alert to control the spread of WORM_SASSER.B. Several infection reports have been received indicating that this worm is spreading in the Latin American region. This variant of WORM_SASSER.A similarly exploits the Windows "Local Security Authority Subsystem Service" (LSASS) vulnerability, which is a buffer overrun that allows remote code execution and enables an attacker to gain full control of the affected system. http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=MS04-011_MICROSOFT_WINDOWS http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms04-011.mspx To propagate, this worm scans random IP addresses for vulnerable systems. When a vulnerable system is found, the malware sends a specially crafted packet to produce a buffer overrun on LSASS.EXE, which causes the program to crash and eventually require Windows to reboot. TrendLabs has released the following EPS deliverables: TMCM Outbreak Prevention Policy 112 (released) Official Pattern Release 883 (released) Damage Cleanup Template 334 (released) Vulnerability Assessment Rule 010 (released) Network VirusWall (NVW) Pattern 10125 (released)
