We are in the process of organizing ourselves to begin a flag football league. If you are interested in playing, please send us an email, or add your name to the mailing list (both accessible on the menu on the left). If you simply want to come down and play, come down to Bernard Park, where we play every Sunday at 10AM. Once we get enough names committed to playing at regular times, we plan to set up teams with a draft. Once we do this, we will set up a schedule, play a season and play for the inaugural version of the Bermuda Bowl. [Timeout locking counter file] Since June 11th 2001 Additional Links NFL General Sporting Info: Cricket Cricket is Bermuda’s summer spectator sport played on weekends at a variety of cricket fields. The highlight of the cricket season is the annual Cup Match Cricket Festival in July/August, played since 1902. County Cup Matches are played between teams in their respective zones of the Island (i.e., Eastern, Central, and Western). These are highly competitive cricket matches with much history and tradition. The “granddaddy” of the counties is the Eastern County. The cricket season runs from the end of April through mid-September.

In what looked to be a promising close game, the prediction fell short of that as Chix Squad dominated and showed why they are the 3-year reigning flag football champs. Quarterback, Kim Freed, put Chix Squad on the board first with a 5-yard pass to receiver, Aya Funahashi, who hit Julie Hartley on a 19-yard pitch play. With great defense, Chix Squad only allowed Black Reign to 2 first downs, and coming out on top 19-6.

It is not designed to guarantee success, but hopefully by reading this document you will become more familiar with some of the strategies involved in playing the game. However, the information presented will not be effective if your team does not practice and work together. History has shown that all of the successful teams practice routinely, with some beginning as early as mid-July, for the fall semester. The 80-yard flag football field is divided into four zones and two 10-yard end zones.

Basic Rules of Play back to top
GENERAL: The game is played on a high school football field 100 yards in length and 50 yards in width. Two flags are worn and a junior sized football is used. Flags must be worn at the sides, shirts must be tucked in pants that fully contrast the flag colors. (Red flags are really hard to see on orange pants.) Shoulder pads and helmets are illegal, but light body proctection (ie: knee pads, forearm pads) is allowed. Each team has an eight person offensive and defensive unit. We don't have extra point or field goal kicks but we have kickoffs and punts. KICKOFFS: The kicking team lines all eight players on the thirty yard line and is allowed to cross the line as soon as the ball is kicked. The receiving team must have 5 people on the opposing 30 yard line and they are allowed to move as soon as the ball is kicked. If they catch it and then drop it is a fumble. Fumbles are considered dead balls at the point the fumble occurred. (This prevents alot of injuries that used to occur in the scramble followed a fumble.) If the receiving team touches the ball but does not catch it is not considered a fumble but a live ball.
