... Free Guides This authentic form of northern travel – dog sledding – has been used since time immemorial in the True North. First Nations people used dogs to access trap lines and many gold seekers found a sled the only way to get to their claim on the motherlode. Many Yukoners still rely on dogs as their means of access into the Northern wilderness. Some prefer to challenge themselves and nature by racing full-time in the winter – the Yukon Quest has been labeled the "toughest sled-dog race in the world". Others team up with their huskies to run first-class tourism businesses and get you in on the action. Try your hand at sledding by joining one of our many tour operators on a half-day to full week or longer trip. Most teach you the ropes and allow you to experience the thrill of driving your own team. While on the trail accommodations range from rustic wall tents and wilderness cabins to fully appointed contemporary cabins and lodges. Yes, you'll be warm either way.

DOG SLED RIDES IN SCENIC HOPE VALLEY
