Barnsley Harriers Welcome to Barnsley Harriers
Welcome to the home page of Barnsley Harriers Running Club. The club has been in existence for 10 years and caters for all standards of runners with club nights every Monday and Wednesday at 7.00 p.m. from the Shaw Lane Sports Ground.
Club members participate in many events and not just road races; we have a thriving fell section which competes in fell races across the country throughout the year.
Club nights are friendly occasions with runners joining one of three groups dependant on standard. Many members stay behind afterwards for a friendly drink (or two) in the new clubhouse which we share with several other clubs (rugby union, squash, bowls, archery, cricket etc.).
During the winter we run specific training sessions on a Wednesday night: These alternate between speedwork and hillwork and all club members take part. There is no pressure to compete as the idea is to use these sessions to improve for the spring and summer.
As a new departure this winter a group of members have taken to running cross country in the dark using head torches to light the way. Harriers on Tour - Stoop Fell Race, Howarth 17/12/2000

ATHLETE OF WEEK
Amy
DiBianca (Nov. 24) Amy DiBianca ran the ninth-best 6,000-meter time in Emory University history to lead the Eagles in the NCAA Division III National Championships. DiBianca, a freshman, finished 58th out of 213 runners with a time of 23 minutes 22 seconds. Her time was the third fastest by an Eagle this season, and the fastest by a freshman at an NCAA national meet at that distance in school history. This also marked the third time this season that she has finished first on the team. Emory extended its streak to 13 consecutive appearances at the nationals, the longest active streak in NCAA Division III.
