By facilitating unity among believers through focused corporate prayer, Warren believes he is fulfilling his part of a divine mandate to prepare Canada for her prophetic destiny as a "sending" nation that will carry revival and healing around the world. "Whenever God is getting ready to do something, He gets His people praying," said Warren, quoting historian J. Edwin Orr. Weighing In At 305lbs......

By Doug Brown
It's official. We've been warned. The league has been put on notice. The secret society of National Football League executives has sent the Canadian Football League membership a message courtesy of Marty York at Rogers Sportsnet.ca; "This kid (Steve Morley) better end up with the Green Bay Packers, or I guarantee you that the NFL is going to take a long, hard look at our relationship with the CFL," says the anonymous NFL executive. Don't check your trousers for precipitation just yet, it gets worse. "We've given the CFL a lot of our time and a lot of our money over the years. We don't need headaches from the CFL," says the same executive. There is nothing quite like being threatened by another professional sports affiliation. As much as a full crew of affluent owners signals a resurgence north of the border, when you can irk the NFL brass into some anonymous posturing, that's when you know you are truly back in the big time. I always enjoyed the HBO Friday Night Fights promotions when Mike Tyson would erupt into some sort of staged violence to charge the pay-per-view numbers, so why not fabricate my own?

Jack Jordan on football in Canada 10 May 2004 by CJFL Media In one way or another Jack Jordan has been around football for the last 40 years or so. From his days at University of Guelp to his present role at Football Canada, Jordan has seen all levels of the sport. Jordan has been CEO of Football Canada since 1992 and has seen a growth in amatuer football right across the country. With the Grey Cup being held in Ottawa this year, the opportunity to raise the profile of grassroots football across the country is even greater. CFL.ca caught up to Mr. Jordan recently to get his take on where the sport stands. Read More ...

97. The Original World League Of American Football
Traces the history of the World League of American football back to when American and canadian teams were in the competition.
http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/1871/
The Original World League of American Football
When the United States Football League announced plans to begin play in the fall in 1986, it was the end of spring football in the United States. When the USFL collapsed that same year, it also marked the end of a rival league to the National Football League . That changed in the spring of 1991. The spring of 1991 brought a new league to the world, the World League of American Football. The WLAF was an NFL backed venture that was created to be a "developmental" league for the NFL as well as help spread football throughout the world. When the WLAF first kicked off, there were six teams in the US, one in Canada, and three in Europe. Some cities like Birmingham and San Antonio had not had football since the failed USFL. The original WLAF had a great fan following in Europe and in select cities like Birmingham, but a lack of fan support in the States led to the eventual demise of the WLAF. Some saw the league as less than minor league and somewhat of a joke due to a lack of stars. True, but many of these players were playing their hearts out to get one last chance in the NFL. This was one of the ideas of the World League. NFL teams would send players the the WLAF to get game experience. At first, this did not happen too much, now in the new World League all thirty NFL teams have players on the rosters of the six WL teams. The original WLAF was not without support. Like the USFL, the WLAF had a TV deal. The USA Network broadcast a game once a week usually on Monday or Thursday night. ABC also had a weekly game on Sunday. Despite the TV deals and the loyal fans in some cities, the WLAF failed. After the 1992 season, the NFL pulled the plug on the league. Three years later, the new World League opened up with six teams in Europe and more support from the NFL.

Spring camp wrap up
This years camp wrapped up with the usual brown/white scrimmage It was the high spirited affair that the coaches expected following two practices that had the players chomping at the bit for game like conditions. There will be some tough decisions for coach Christensen and his staff to make as they whittle the 113 players currently vying for roster spots to 75 for main camp this July. Details will be posted here as they occur May 8, 2004
Spring camp day 1
Cool weather conditions, coupled with a bit of rain made for an easier than usual day for Sun vets and hopefuls who often battle 30 degree plus weather for this camp. 103 players were in attendance, while 10 veterans from the prairies had coaches permission to skip camp. Among the vets not in Kelowna was defensive end Aaron English, who has informed the club that he is considering attending university this fall. While the loss of his talent would be a blow, the depth at the position would make his departure easier to overcome.
5 returnees from the offensive line were among those given permission to bypass camp, meaning rookies were given a fair number of reps. The coaches will have a good chance to scout the Sun's future in that postition at the srimmage tomorrow.
