Camogie
Camogie is the form of hurling played by women. The game is basically the same in every way but one of the main differences is that it is played on a slightly smaller field. Theorganisation responsible for camogie, Cumann Camógaíochta na nGael was founded in 1904 with the aim of providing Gaelic games for the girls and women of Ireland. Camogie quickly became popular throughout the country and also spread to other countries. The Camogie Association (Cumann Camógaíochta na nGael) is now one of the largest sports organisation in Ireland for women and girls, and its membership includes many male colleagues who participate in such areas as administration, coaching and refereeing. More information about camogie is available at www.gaa.ie

Camogie
Camogie is the version of Irish hurling played by girls and women. The rules are similar to those of hurling, with a few minor exceptions. Most notably, in camogie, a player may hand pass the sliothar into the goal to score. The Milwaukee Hurling Club offers camogie to its female members in addition to hurling. To inquire about spectating or joining, please call the Hurler's Hotline at (414) 297-9490 and leave a message for Rachel Rohde or Sharon Jones.
A Year In Review
Another Story of The Milwaukee Hurling Club's Enduring Growth
The Milwaukee Clash has had a phenomenal year of growth and success. It must be noted that this group of women began as a handful of women with a vision before the summer of 2000 and since then has become a highly dedicated and competitive team of athletes. In 2003, the Clash held over 25 well attended, structured practices and scrimmages. These practices welcome camogie players of all skill levels. The Clash has participated in many matches, both formal and informal. The Clash has traveled near and far to compete with other women of camogie. The Milwaukee Clash was privileged with the opportunity of developing a traveling team this year. The traveling team will continue to change and grow in future seasons to compete with other established teams throughout the United States.

    http://www.carnmore.net/camogie.htm
Home Sports News Gallery ... Email Us Club History 20-MAY-2000 Carnmore Camogie Club is the youngest of the 32 camogie club’s currently playing in Galway. In it’s current guise,it was formed in 1998. Some people believe that an Adult Camogie team represented the Parish back in the Late sixties or early Seventies. Unfortunately, records for that era are unavailable.. So this report only covers the 1998 Beginning. The foundations of the Club were laid in the Spring of 1997,when training was set up every Saturday evening for the girls of the local national schools. For the record the 1st training session Was held on 1st of March 1997. The school competitions got the girls involved, and gave them their 1st feel for a match Against an opposing team . After a few encouraging performances by the school teams ,And with interest growing it was decided to have an attempt at forming a Club within the Parish. So in the early Spring of 1998,we reigistered Carnmore Camogie Club with the County Camogie Board. The Seed Capital for this great venture into the unknown world of Galway Camogie was put up directly by the parents of the girls involved. That year we played in County And City Fixtures. To say it was a tough year on the playing fields is a major understatement. Our inexperience,on and off the field was exploited by most teams we met. Nevertheless,as the Year went on,the girls did get more used to playing matches, and a noticeable improvement Was evident in their play.
