The Footy's back!
The Governer's Challenge is back again for 2001.
Last week at Fremantle Oval, South Freo had a big win over WA Country by 86 points and East Freo got on back on the reigning premiers by beating the Royals by 29 points.
Up at Joondalup, West Perth held of the Swans by 23 points and Claremont ignored the rumours of a merger with Subi by thrashing them by 46 points.
Stan Magro, the new coach of Perth, managed to get this year off to a positive start with a 19 point win over Peel at the Thunder's home ground.
Round 2 Fixtures:
South Fremantle v West Perth at Fremantle Oval (1pm) (before the Freo vs Geelong scratch match);
East Fremantle v Claremont at East Fremantle Oval (4:30pm);

The AIS Australian Football program was established in 1997. It is a partnership between the AIS and the Australian Football League and represents a joint commitment to provide high quality instruction, training and education to footballers at both state and national levels. An important component of the Academy program is an annual series of matches played against Ireland. A short preparation camp is held before the series. The Academy program is administered from AFL headquarters at the Colonial Stadium in Melbourne. The head coach is former Footscray player and coach Terry Wheeler. Want to know more?
