Southern Highlands Rod Company, Located in Decatur, Georgia.
http://www.southern-angling.com
We started the company to sell the custom rods that we build. Steve had been only building for friends and family, but lots of people have asked him to build them rods. They wanted rods that reflect his attention to an angler’s personal details of size, style and taste that make a rod a better “fit’ and therefore a better performer.
Steve and I have been fishing the large and small streams around North Georgia and the Southeast for years. We've had experience with the best (and not so best) rods that work for the species and fishing techniques in our home region. So we start with designs with which we feel confident fishing ourselves, on the waters and for the species we know best. We do not build these designs into rods for inventory however. Each of the designs is used as a starting point and adapted to the individual angler’s specific needs and preferences. If there is one truth we have learned fishing with so many friends it is that everyone has a casting stroke, favorite techniques and opinion about aesthetics that is uniquely their own. Our mission is to build the highest quality, high-performance and eye-pleasing rods that are as unique as the anglers who fish them.
Email or call us and let us design and build a functional and beautiful rod that fits you and the waters you fish.

Turlane Angling Essentials
Dry flies mimic the adult life stage of an aquatic insect that appears on the surface of the water. Trout are often very selective when feeding on the surface, so we offer a wide variety of dry flies to match a wide variety of insects.
Nymphs are flies representing the underwater life stage of an aquatic insect. Since trout spend the majority of their time feeding under the surface, everyone needs an ample supply of these flies.
Streamers imitate baitfish - the preferred prey of larger fish. Whether you want a streamer that mimics a specific baitfish or just a general imitation, we offer a number of patterns to meet your needs.
Wet flies are a traditional class of flies that can be used as attractors or as imitations of emerging aquatic insects - every angler should carry a few.
Terrestrials are land born insects that have fallen into the water. They include a wide variety of insects, but the flies that are primarily used to represent them are ants, beetles, grasshoppers, and crickets. All are effective and no one should be without them.
Fly fishing for bass offers a uniquely different experience. Bass are very opportunistic feeders, so we offer a variety of patterns from mice to dragonflies to entice bass on your next fly fishing trip.

http://www.troutandsalmon.net
Newton Stewart is a small town situated in the South-West of Scotland and is a popular stopping point of holidaymakers from all around the world. The town is built along the River Cree which flows out of Loch Moan.
The River Cree enters Wigtown Bay on the Solway Firth and has an excellent run of spring salmon and fabulous sea trout fishing. The people of Newton Stewart take pride in knowing that they have some of the finest fishing in Scotland and indeed the United Kingdom.
This site is designed to give anglers an insight into the many different fishings available throughout Newton Stewart and the surrounding areas. The area enjoys mostly gamefishing and most of our local anglers opt for flyfishing although we have a good number who pursue spinning and bait fishing. The main object of course is to enjoy yourself and, if you’re lucky, catch a fish or two.
I have included a section on every loch or stretch of water that is either run or owned by the local angling club, Newton Stewart Angling Association. I have also provided you with all the necessary information needed to visit our town and enjoy our fishing. If you are interested in learning more about Newton Stewart, I have organised a links section which I am are sure will assist you in answering any questions you may have. If not just send me an email or alternatively fill out the form below and I will endeavour to assist you in any way I can.

Most people who think of Sea Angling in and around Bedford would not expect to come across a bunch of enthusiasts who live 100 miles from the sea. However, here we all are and some have been members of the club from the start back in 1965. I regret to say that I was not interested in sea fishing back in the 1960's as I was still at school and learning about girls, but that's another story! Although we are a small boat club, we also have shore fishing trips from time to time around the Suffolk and Norfolk coast, and are always on the look out for good venues, especially if the sea is too rough to launch when we get down to the shore at Felixstowe.

Today's date:        Roth Angling offers fine quality framed fly plates, shadowbox kits, and custom fly framing. We specialize in archival, museum-quality framing of collectible angling art and flies. All items are framed in fine, custom-made hand-rubbed cherry, maple, and walnut frames...(solid hardwood frames, not laminated or imported 'faux' frames). Archival acid-free framing materials, techniques, and attention to detail are employed on all work. All flies are dry mounted using barely visible wire...(not bulky corks or plastic rods with glue). This gives the fly a 'floating' appearance, while avoiding an unsightly mount or damage to the fly. We also can frame art with flies...all artwork is dry mounted using archival, acid-free hinges. (We have been commissioned to frame a number of antique and collectible pieces for the American Museum of Fly-fishing, so you can be assured of quality craftsmanship.) All items are hand made one at a time...nothing here is mass-produced. You may order via the secure shopping cart or by phone, and we accept Visa or MasterCard for your convenience. Thank you for your interest.

Quantum net for atom angling
Physicists should be able to land exact numbers of atoms from a quantum cloud.
30 July 2002 PHILIP BALL The size of the catch depends on how fast you yank out the net. Scientists should be able to fish out an exact number of atoms from puddles of many thousands using a quantum net, new calculations suggest The size of the catch, say Roberto Diener and colleagues at the University of Texas at Austin, will depend on how fast they yank the net out of the atom pool. This will influence how easily atoms in it can wriggle back into the pool. The puddles in question are Bose-Einstein condensates (BEC) - clouds of atoms that behave as though they were a single super-atom. BECs form only at very low temperatures, in a gas of atoms held by electrical or magnetic forces in an atom trap. The net is a quantum dot - a piece of material so small that its properties, which are governed by the laws of quantum mechanics, depend on its size. A typical quantum dot might be a particle of a semiconductor or metal just a few millionths of a millimetre across. The dot attracts atoms. Plunged into a BEC, the dot is like a tiny well in the bottom of the broad pond in which the BEC is trapped.

angling in the UK coarse, game and sea. Codes of Conduct, seasons, FAQ, licence and permit requirements. From the Countryside Alliance.
http://www.countryside-alliance.org/edu/edu2-3-2.htm

Fishing (Angling)
Angling, which includes all forms of sport fishing, has existed for hundreds of years and is enjoyed by some four million men, women and children throughout the UK. Angling is a broad-based country sport, which has important benefits for conservation. Among the original conservationists, anglers actively promote healthy fish stocks while caring for the water and waterside habitat. A good, healthy stock of fish is not the only product of the conservation efforts of anglers. Waterside plants, insects, birds, mammals and reptiles also benefit. With angling's governing bodies leading the way, anglers are deeply concerned with the protection of the environment. The seasons for the two types of freshwater angling, coarse and game, loosely accord to the times of year the quarry fish spawn. Coarse fish spawn and breed in spring and early summer, game fish spawn in autumn or winter. Weather conditions affect the breeding times, and angling seasons are timed to protect the fish while they are reproducing. Moderation, courtesy and consideration for others are hallmarks of the sporting angler for whom there is much more to fishing than just catching fish. For many, enjoying the scenery and tranquillity is just as important.
