Women s studies, Women s studies at UCR is expanding rapidly. Students can expect exciting additions to the current program and student input is always welcome.
http://womensstudies.ucr.edu/WomenHome.html
What makes the Women's Studies Department at UCR unique is the way we combine theory with informed action, and focus on understanding the varieties of feminism throughout the world today. Our students and faculty come from a wide range of ethnic, racial, and national backgrounds, and our department values such diversity in the production of knowledge. The curriculum is designed to help students learn from the similarities and differences in women's experiences in this country and around the world. We cross traditional academic disciplines to investigate such topics as the roles of women in developing countries and in migration; the ways gender interacts with race, ethnicity, and class; how gender shapes performance and the expressive arts; how gender categories operate in our own and other societies; the history and contemporary theories of sex and sexualities; and new directions in feminist theory and methods of research.
Women's Studies at UCR is expanding rapidly. Students can expect exciting additions to the current program and student input is always welcome.

W omen's Studies is an academic discipline itselflike philosophy or anthropologythat has both its own subject matter and its own perspective on knowledge. The subject matter is women, but that includes more than just the "great" women who broke the barriers of gender roles and achieved fame in fields previously reserved for men. Women's Studies is concerned with humankind's whole approach to women and the universal phenomenon of gender roles. Women's Studies classes are important for men as well as for women because an understanding of gender roles can benefit everyone.

The School of Arts and Sciences offers undergraduate programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree. View undergraduate degree programs for the School of Arts and Sciences. The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degree programs allow students to select from a number of areas and provide preparation for high school teaching (if secondary education is elected as a minor), graduate school, and fields of endeavor related to the major area of study. Students are advised to consult with their department chairperson or major adviser early in their academic career, but not later than the end of the sophomore year, in order to select a major and to be certain that course selection will allow graduation with the desired degree.
