I always have God and I have ot This Weeks Bible Verse - September 14, 2003 Malachi 2:10 "Have we not all one Father? Did not one God create us?" All was quiet in the little church. Every head was bowed in reverence. The pastor ended the pastoral prayer; and the congregation prayed in unison, "Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name." In that holy moment, the words of Malachi came to my mind: "Have we not all one Father? Did not one God create us?" The conclusion was obvious. We are all children of our "Father, who art in heaven." God has no grandchildren; we are all God's sons and daughters. Therefore, we are also brothers and sisters. We have all the rights, privileges, and responsibilities of being in God's family.

Duke University INTRODUCTION Gay/lesbian/bisexual studies is an emerging, rapidly-growing field of scholarship. The sources listed below offer an entry into this area of inquiry. The list is selective rather than comprehensive, and it covers those sources that focus primarily or even exclusively on various aspects of gay/lesbian/bisexual studies. However, because gay/lesbian/bisexual studies is an interdisciplinary area of research, material relevant to it can be found in a wide range of reference sources which do not have a gay/lesbian/bisexual studies focus. Note that many of the sources referred to herein use the term homosexual interchangeably with gay , which usually refers to men, and lesbian , which usually refers to women. Syllabi and Course Descriptions Know of a Resource? Queer Studies Programs Allegheny College: Interdisciplinary Minor in Lesbian and Gay Studies An interdisciplinary minor which combines three Liberal Studies courses focused on lesbian and gay issues with courses from the sciences, humanities, and social sciences that connect these issues to other cultural themes.
City College of San Francisco, a pioneer in the development of the field of queer studies, is among the most hospitable campuses for G/L/B/T students in the country. The field of Lesbian, Bisexual, and Gay Studies is devoted to the study of sexuality and its importance to the organization of social relations more generally. Primary among its concerns is also the study of lives, the politics, and the creative work of sexual minorities. Duke University: Program in the Study of Sexualities The Program in the Study of Sexualities focuses on the political, historical, cultural, and psychological contexts in which gender identities and sexualities have been and are currently being expressed. At the core of any study of sexualities is the social belief that heterosexuality and homosexuality are extremes of a single continuum, with bisexuality somewhere in the middle.

    59. New Data On Lesbian, Gay And Bisexual Mental Health
Researchers say these studies demonstrate the need for better, more tailored psychological treatment for lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) people.
    http://www.apa.org/monitor/feb02/newdata.html
Volume 33, No. 2 February 2002 New data on lesbian, gay and bisexual mental health New findings overturn previous beliefs. BY TORI DeANGELIS The results of several breakthrough studies are offering new insights on gay men, lesbians and bisexuals. Among the key findings: * Several studies suggest that gay men, lesbians and bisexuals appear to have higher rates of some mental disorders compared with heterosexuals, although not to the level of a serious pathology. Discrimination may help fuel these higher rates. * A study found lesbians reported equally strong levels of mental health as their heterosexual sisters and higher self-esteem. * A new study of gay and lesbian youth finds that they are only slightly more likely than heterosexual youth to attempt suicide, refuting previous research that suggested much higher rates. Researchers say these studies demonstrate the need for better, more tailored psychological treatment for lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) people. Population-based studies Several large population-based public health studies are discussed in the November American Psychologist (Vol. 56, No. 11)

Teen substance abuse, weapon-related violence, suicide attempts and unprotected sexual behavior are certainly among the predominant public health concerns in our nation.. However, these same concerns for lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) youth are particularly alarming. As a group, adolescents who are experiencing same-sex attraction or behavior appear to be at increased risk for a large number of health and mental health outcomes when compared to their heterosexual peers. For example:
    • Recent data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that young men who have sex with men accounted for 34% of all new AIDS cases among 13 to 24-year-olds. Black and Latino sexually active young men are at particular risk for HIV infection ( Centers for Disease Control and Prevention A study appearing in the Journal of the American Medial Association of 15 to 22 year old young men who reported having sex with other men in 7 metropolitan areas indicated an overall HIV infection rate of 7.2%. The highest HIV prevalence was among African-American (14.1%) and multiracial (12.6%) men (Valleroy et al., 2000). Recent data released at the 2001 National Retrovirus Conference appeared to confirm high rates of HIV infection in particular for young, Black gay men in urban areas.
