Research categories Research conducted by members of CEETUM falls into three main categories: 1) Citizenship, exclusion, and racism This category involves research on citizenship and pluralism (theories, models, public policy, and social practices) as well as on the dynamics of social inclusion and exclusion, with particular attention to racism and discrimination. 2) Immigration, ethnic pluralism, and social dynamics Research in this category touches on migratory flows and immigrant integration, transformations in ethnic relations, the redefinition of ethno-linguistic boundaries in Montreal, and urban dynamics, including coexistence at the neighbourhood level and residential trajectories and segregation. 3) Ethnic relations, training, and education The third category has to do with research on the role of education in constructing ethnic relations. This includes the adaptation of educational institutions, and diversity management and education in divided societies.
