Through all these activities the DSU seeks to improve the quality of life of people who have disabilities, focusing particularly on promoting the greater use of the health referral system for bringing about an improvement in their health situation. The DSU is the only academic unit in a university in a developing country focusing entirely on disability issues. Moreover, it is a self-financing unit.
