Sociology and anthropology (San Antonio, TX)
http://www.trinity.edu/departments/soc_anthro/index.html
Sociology and Anthropology are two disciplines dedicated to the study of human social life. Sociologists investigate general principles governing social organization and social behavior in a variety of settings including the family, religion, education, government, community, and the economy. Anthropology is the comparative study of hunter-gatherer, horticultural, agrarian, and industrial societies and their major institutions. Archaeology, one of the fields of anthropology covered in the Department, includes summer fieldwork at the Trinity Archaeological Field School in Belize. Sociology and anthropology students learn how their individual lives shape and are shaped by the social contexts in which they live.

About Sociology and Anthropology
Departmental courses address central themes of anthropological and sociological studies: evolutionary perspectives on adaptation and change, comparative approaches in social analysis, the analysis of selected social institutions, and theoretical orientations to social organization, conflict, and disorganization. Studies in the Department stress issues of power, status, sexuality, and the construction, maintenance, and transformation of moral order. The curriculum emphasizes social theory and ethnographic research as forms of inquiry, and includes classes in both classical and contemporary theory, research design, and an ethnographic research practicum. Internship and field research opportunities are available, and almost all students complete a senior thesis based on original research. Recent graduates have entered leading graduate programs in anthropology, sociology, human services, law, public health, journalism, education, library and information sciences, and comparative literature. Other graduates have gone directly into fields of community development and human services.

Forte Name: CaribAmerindianCentre@yahoo.com Email: KACIKE: The Journal of Caribbean Amerindian History and Anthropology , is an online, peer reviewed journal operated, managed and maintained by academics. Some of the leading scholars in this area of studies are members of the international board of consulting editors.
Unlike a print journal, Kacike receives free and wide distribution and is already listed in the e-journal databases of some of the world's leading university libraries. Authors of articles in Kacike benefit from a wider and more numerous reader audience than do those who publish in expensive and unevely distributed print journals.
Kacike also allows the publication of articles of any length. Finally, scholars can express themselves without being limited to the arbitrary 20 page limit, itself a product of the costs of running print journals. Moreover, Kacike encoourages the publication of a wide spectrum of writing, whether descriptive and ethnographic, to historical and theoretical.
Kacike was established in 1999. Given the specialized nature of the journalindeed a specialization that only the Internet could realistically permitand given prevailing biases amongst institutional scholars against electronic journals as somehow less credible than printed sources, Kacike is still developing slowly.

Background, Functions, and Purposes:
The unequivocal need to identify forensic scientists qualified to provide essential professional services for the nation's judicial and executive branches of government has long been recognized. In response to this professional mandate, the American Board of Forensic Anthropology was organized in 1977 to provide, in the interest of the public and the advancement of the science, a program of certification in forensic anthropology. In purpose, function, and organization, the ABFA is thus analogous to the certifying boards in various medical specialities and scientific fields. Certification is based upon the candidate's personal and professional record of education and training, experience, and achievement, as well as on results of formal examinations.

100. The Anthropology Of Mythology
Dedicated to the ongoing study of world mythology and how humankind uses myth to express its belief in God.
http://nemorensis.net/anthromyth/index.html
The Anthropology of Mythology
Table of Contents
What's New Link Repository The Anthropology of Mythology is focused on the study of world mythology through cultural research, Jungian analysis and sacred literature. The site endeavors to demonstrate how humankind uses myth to express its belief in God and provides various tools for scholastic research on the subject. It is my joy to explore and share the different formats with which individual people and whole cultures use to participate in the transcendent mystery of myth. What is Myth?
The word "mythos" comes from the Greek meaning to be spoken with the mouth. By definition, myths are spiritual metaphors that lead us to the noblest truths about ourselves. Myth is humankind's first method of communicating our vision of the cosmos and answering the why and how questions regarding birth, life, death and the rhythms of nature. The existence of myth and its many facets has given birth to religion, mysticism, spirituality, philosophy- everything. Myth is our way of speaking to one another about our quests to know God and our experience with the Divine. Why is Mythology Important?
