Judge throws out ex-CIA agent's conviction
Ex-CIA agent Edwin P. Wilson enters the Federal Courthouse in this February 1983 photo during his trial in Texas. Story Tools HOUSTON, Texas (AP) A federal judge threw out the conviction of a former CIA operative who has spent 20 years in prison for selling arms to Libya, saying the government knowingly used false evidence against him. Edwin P. Wilson, 75, was convicted in 1983 of shipping 20 tons of C-4 plastic explosives to Libya something he said he did to ingratiate himself with the Libyan government at the CIA's request. In a scathing opinion released Tuesday, U.S. Judge Lynn N. Hughes said the federal government failed to correct information about Wilson's service to the CIA that it admitted internally was false. "Confronted with its own internal memoranda, the government now says that, well, it might have misstated the truth, but that it was Wilson's fault, it did not really matter, and it did not know what it was doing," the judge wrote in a 24-page ruling. Defense attorney David Adler said the judge's decision ultimately could free Wilson from prison. However, the ruling's immediate effect was not clear because Wilson received prison time for two other convictions including one for conspiring to have prosecutors killed.

    A. Edwin Wilson - During the years 1953 through 1970 the written ministry of Rev. A. Edwin Wilson regularly reached into the homes of many Christians throughout the country via a religious periodical published under his direction. THE OVERCOMERS In the Word of the Lord, particularly in Revelation2 and 3 and in the first epistle of John as well as the gospel
    http://www.raptureready.com/resource/wilson/w6.htm
THE OVERCOMERS In the Word of the Lord, particularly in Revelation 2 and 3 and in the first epistle of John as well as the gospel of John, we have the word "overcomers" used a number of times. There seems to be some confusion and misunderstanding concerning the identity, origin and destiny of persons designated "overcomers." The simplest meaning of the term "to overcome" is "to conquer," "to win a victory"-either in a lawsuit (Rom. 3:4), or in a war (Rev. 6:2), or in moral conflicts (Rom. 12:21), or in a spiritual conflict (I John 2:13, 14). The Greek noun for "overcomer" is translated "victory." See I John 5:4; Matt. 12:20; I Cor. 15:54, 55, 57. The Greek verb "to overcome" is sometimes translated "to prevail," other times "to conquer" and at other times "to overcome." The idea inherent in this word translated "overcome" is unchanging - it always means a contest or a conflict ending in victory. The whole idea is part of the agelong battle between God and Satan in which human beings are either on the side of God or of Satan. Men's bodies and material possessions are the weapons that are used in this conflict and are therefore to be brought under the control of the Christian through the power of the Holy Spirit if he is to be an overcomer. If the Christian is overcome by the lust of the flesh, and the love of material possessions, he will lose his rewards (I Cor. 9:24-27). The overcomer is promised great rewards for a particular victory, which will be considered later in the discussion.

Subsequently he removed to Harrisburg, where he had charge of another newspaper. For some time he resided in Lancaster, after which he was private secretary to James Buchanan, when the latter was secretary of state. by Teresa Maciocha, editor and social activist Edwin Henry Wilson was born on August 23, 1898, in Woodhaven, New York. He was raised in Concord, Massachusetts, where he attended the First Parish Church, a Unitarian fellowship. Wilson's father had no use for the church; it was his mother who introduced him to Unitarianism, albeit of the conservative variety.
Following his ordination in 1928, Wilson became a practicing Unitarian minister in Dayton, Ohio. Over the next sixty-five years, he had pulpits in Schenectady, New York; Chicago, Illinois; Yellow Springs, Ohio; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Cocoa Beach, Florida.
Throughout his life, Wilson maintained a dedication to learning, but it was during the period when he was a matriculated student that he became exposed to and convinced of the validity of the humanist outlook. His conviction that "humanism has time, science, and human need on its side" proved to be life-long.

During the past 100 years, astronomers have discovered quasars, pulsars, black holes and planets orbiting distant suns. But all these pale next to the discoveries Edwin Hubble made in a few remarkable years in the 1920s. At the time, most of his colleagues believed the Milky Way galaxy, a swirling collection of stars a few hundred thousand light-years across, made up the entire cosmos. But peering deep into space from the chilly summit of Mount Wilson, in Southern California, Hubble realized that the Milky Way is just one of millions of galaxies that dot an incomparably larger setting. B C D ... Z by birthday from the calendar Credits and feedback Sir Angus Frank Johnstone Wilson (1913-1991) British writer who portrayed middle-class English life, its manners and characters from snobs and aristocrats to bums. Wilson was one of England's first openly gay writers. Wilson published his first book at the age of 36. "He's so good-looking," Clarissa said, "and a charmer. He hasn't done much, has he? It's awfully dangerous really for people with brains to have money and good looks. They´re practically born to waste their talents." (from Anglo-Saxon Attitudes Angus Wilson was born in Bexhill, East Sussex, into an elderly, upper-middle-class family. His father, an inveterate gambler, was Scot and mother came from South Africa. The family lived in hotels and boardinghouses and moved from place to place depending upon the father's gambling luck. Wilson's siblings played transvestite games, in which he also participated. Later Wilson depicted his rootless hotel life in the autobiographical work WILD GARDEN (1963). After graduating from Merton College, Oxford, where he studied mediaval history and developed his acting talents, Wilson pursued a number of jobs. He joined the British Library and worked there as a book cataloger, and eventually became deputy to the superintendent of the Reading Room. Wilson worked at the library until 1955. "The one thing that matters, Gerald, with the children," said Inge, "is to be consistent. We want their little bodies to grow straight and fine like the birch trees on the mountains. But that is not so difficult. They are good strong little animals without blemishes."
