Mixed Blessings UK, ITV (LWT), Sitcom, Colour, 1978 Starring: Christopher Blake, Muriel Odunton, Carmen Munro Love Thy Neighbour had placed black alongside white and set the stage for racial insults. Mixed Blessings merged black and white in harmony - or at least appeared to. The series centred on a newly married couple, Thomas and Susan, both university graduates and both born in England. Thomas is white, though, and Susan is black, and the two sets of parents - his are Annie and Edward Simpson, hers are Matilda and William Lambert - don't like it, or each other, one tiny bit. Thomas and Susan have to honeymoon in secret and then live for a while at Thomas's matter-of-fact Aunt Dorothy's before finding a place of their own. To add insult to what the parents see as injury, Susan is employed as a social worker but Thomas is unemployed (until midway through the second series) and so she supports the partnership financially. At the end of the second series Susan announced that she was pregnant, and she carried throughout the third, delivering at the end. Mixed Blessings aired in the UK to a mixed reaction, but it was essentially harmless stuff -a point reflected by the fact that the series was sold by ITV for screening in the West Indies.

John King recorded his will in Prince Georges County in 1789 . John King, Sr, recorded a will in 1789 which states: The will, proved on January 12, 1790, does not name the wife of John King, Sr, but land entries in the county during 1792 suggest that she may have been Elizabeth Morris, born c. 1711. This line behind rail fences and dense scrub-oak thickets fought stubbornly as the Confederates rushed on to the Crossroads. Hand to hand fighting along this line. New Battlefield Marker (1999): By 10:00 a.m. on June 10, 1864, Col. George Waring's Federal cavalry had reached the Cross Roads. The troops deployed on either side of the Baldwyn Road in the woods at the western edge of a cleared field, one-half mile east of the Cross Roads. Skirmishing between one of Waring's squadrons and advance Confederate squads had already taken place further east on the Baldwyn Road. Facing Waring's troops from the opposite hilltop across a small creek was Col. Hylan B. Lyon's brigade which was soon reinforced by Col. Edmund W. Rucker's brigade on the left. When Col. William W. Johnson's cavalry arrived and was positioned on the right of Lyon's, Forrest exploited his advantage in numbers and launched a series of attacks.

Prince Edward County Tourism
Tourism
The County of Prince Edward, Quinte's Isle, is located just below Belleville, about an hours drive from Kingston. This picturesque area has the culture, sophistication and amenities, usually associated with a large urban center, yet it is very much a quaint rural area, with all the charms that are associated with county living. This unusual mix makes for a very interesting place to visit, explore and in which to live. You can reach the area by car, bus or rail. If you flying in for a visit, Toronto's Pearson is the nearest international airport. You can then choose to drive Prince Edward or take advantage of the commuter flights available from Air Ontario to reach Kingston. Other alternatives are to fly into Montreal or Ottawa, both of which have international airports. . If your driving from Montreal take the 20 west (or the 40 west, then the 540 south to pick up the 20). Just above Napanee take exit 566 then follow the 49 south. From Ottawa take the 416 south to Prescott, then head west and pick up the 49 south as above. From Toronto take the 401 east and take the 33 south from Trenton, exit 522. If your driving from the U.S. cross the international bridge north of Saracuse near Alexandria and pick up the 401 west or if your coming from the western region of New York, head west at Buffalo to one of the border crossings in the Niagara area and take the QEW to the 427 north then pick up the 401 eastbound. . The peninsula is almost an island which means the whole area is effectively surrounded by water. This makes for easy accessibility for boaters who can reach Quinte via the St Lawrence, the Great Lakes (the Trent-Severn Waterway offers a shorter route if your coming from Michigan, Lake Superior or Georgian Bay) or the Ottawa River via the Rideau Canal.

Again, as we sit here today, cities of the valley and the county are taking steps to adopt new rules that will bring the valley back into compliance with PM-10 air quality requirements. These two statements speak to the constant cooperation between the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), local government agencies and the local building community and their dedication to making our local environment the healthiest in the world. For years now, these entities, public and private, have worked together to keep our environment healthy. Whether it=s clean water, clean air or endangered species, the valley has a long history of working together to make it happen.
