Upton Scott House

By Jean Russo Maryland.com
Upton Scott House may be one of Annapolis's best kept secrets. Although an elegant Georgian mansion built during the city's "Golden Age," it does not have the public recognition of such sister houses as the William Paca, Hammond-Harwood, or Chase-Lloyd. In part that lack of recognition can be attributed to the fact that Upton Scott House is privately owned rather than an historic house museum. But the house also owes its anonymity to the fact that it is tucked away on a dead-end street in the city's less well-traveled southern side. Nevertheless, the home that Dr. Upton Scott built on Shipwright Street boasts a history as colorful and varied as the more well-known Georgian gems.
Upton Scott was born December 30, 1723 in Temple Patrick, County Antrim, in northern Ireland. He was of Scottish descent, his ancestors having been among the Scots brought to northern Ireland by the British government to establish control over that area. He attended school in Glasgow, to which he had obtained a scholarship, and perhaps studied medicine with a local practitioner after returning to Ireland.
In 1746, Scott purchased an army commission as a surgeon's mate in Lord Sackville's Regiment, with which he served until 1753. When the regiment was stationed in Glasgow beginning in 1749, Scott was able to attend medical lectures and received a degree from the University of Glasgow in 1753. During the years of his army service, Scott also became acquainted with Horatio Sharpe, with whom he served on the continent and in Scotland.

    70. History Of Mt. Upton, New York
First lawyer in the village was francis upton Fenno. First physicianwas John Mather. First superintendent was George Romer. Bordens
    http://www.mkl.com/guilford/uptonhist.html
History of Mt. Upton, New York
The first settle in Mt. Upton was Eli Place, who came in 1792 and built a fur trading post. Following him was GUerdon Chamberlayne and his brother Wyatt, William Hyer and John Secoir came in the fall of 1792. About 1800, Guerdon built and saw mill up the creek which was in operation until 1842. Hyer bought and cleared some land to built a farm, and his brother Nathaniel Hyer came in 1793 and cleared the farm north of his brother. This farm is now owned by John Twitchell. Zachary Boyce came in 1794. He was a stone mason. He built a stone tannery, but an ice jam in 1806 destroyed some of his construction. He then sold the land back to Chamberlayne and moved on to Broome county. George Fenno and John Saxton opened the first store in Mt. Upton in 1816 in a log cabin at the four corners. The cabin was finally torn down in 1965 by the State of New York. The land is now owned by the Mt. Upton Lions Club. Beginning in the early 1800s, several more stores were built by new settles within that century. First lawyer in the village was Francis Upton Fenno. First physician was John Mather. First superintendent was George Romer. Bordens opened their mil plant in 1896 and expanded their business with a larger plant building, five huge boilers, ice houses, horse barns and a 125foot metal smoke stack in 1900.

We don't know the exact year or place of this marriage. We do have
some family history that tells us that Jason and Rebecca and
Rebecca's mother and step-father, Harvey Hawkins, migrated to Tarrant
County, Texas in 1854 from around Rusk County in East Texas and
settled on adjacent sections of land (160 acres each), at a location
that is now part of Arlington, Texas, in the area of where the
intersection of I-20 and U.S. Highway 287 is today. Record of a land
grant has been found, Abstract #938, Volume 29, No. 190, Tarrant County, showing 160 acres of land deeded to Jason B. Little on February 29, 1860. Also, a tract map of the area dated in the 1860's show the location of the Little tract as well as the Hawkins tract.
