The sessions, recorded in St. Louis, feature a veritable blues who's-who of the Show-Me State. Legendary pianist Johnnie Johnson sits in on a couple of songs (the cautionary blues Warning Shot and the rockin' Happy Hour), while Tom Maloney and Rich McDonough handle the guitar duties on the majority of these 12 tracks. Arkansas Barnburner ­ and former Band drummer ­ Levon Helm provides the steady back beat, along with bassist Gus Thornton (alumnus of Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan's bands), while such special guests as guitarist Arthur Nielson and pianist Dona Oxford (both of Shemekia Copeland's band) add some spice to this musical recipe.

He received his B.S. from there in 1967 and moved to the University of California at Berkeley to undertake research under Morris Hirsch's and Stephen Smale 's supervision. He was awarded his doctorate in 1972 for a thesis entitled Foliations of 3-manifolds which are circle bundles. This work showed the existence of compact leaves in foliations of 3-manifolds. After completing his Ph.D., Thurston spent the academic year 1972-73 at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton. Then, in 1973, he was appointed an assistant professor of mathematics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1974 he was appointed professor of mathematics at Princeton University. Throughout this period Thurston worked on foliations. Lawson ([4]) sums up this work:- It is evident that Thurston's contributions to the field of foliations are of considerable depth. However, what sets them apart is their marvellous originality. This is also true of his subsequent work on space and the theory of -manifolds.

If you ever listened to the locked-groove hum at the end of "Xpressway To Your Skull" and thought you'd like to hear a lot more of it, or if you just want to hear two masters of sound manipulation bouncing ideas off of each other in real time, this album's for you. It starts with some startlingly lovely textural explorations; the duo linger for nearly ten minutes inside a couple of arpeggios and a lot of amp hum on "Burnt Klubgirl Lid Tone" without ever inspiring a wristwatch check. From there things rise and fall several times before building to a climax on the penultimate "We Love Our Blood," on which Cline peals out high, keening ice-pick notes over Moore's digitally layered orbital chord sequences.
