It covers the field of orthogonal polynomials and its applications in the other areas of mathematics, physics and other sciences. This Symposium is a forum for presentation and discussion of all aspects of orthogonal polynomials, ranging from the fundamental to the applied. The aim of the Symposium is to provide a common meeting ground for specialists in orthogonal polynomials and related topics such as moment problems, special functions, rational approximation, matrix orthogonal polynomials, Sobolev orthogonal polynomials, as well as in the rich variety of scientific applications of these objects. The scientific program includes plenary lectures and research seminars. An approximate time table will appear later on our site. The final program will be given on the registration desk on Monday 20 September, 1999.

Addresses laatste wijziging: 30-3-2004 Research Profile The business theory taught at the 'Nederlandsche Handels-Hoogeschool' ( NEH ) at the beginning of this century has grown in the intervening years to become a fully-fledged and wide-ranging science. This can be seen in the extensive pluriformity in research which is at present being carried out at the RSE : research into all fields of economics and into the areas where there is overlap with other subjects, including law, computer science, mathematics and sociology. The forty years during which Jan Tinbergen was associated with the School have left their mark on a major part of the research. Not only is research still carried out into econometrics, but research into other subjects is characterised by an analytical and mainly quantitative approach, a research style that rooted itself firmly in the culture of the RSE in Tinbergen's time.
