The Academy in 1920s-1930s. Establishment of Academies of Sciences of Soviet Republics The revolutionary period of February-October 1917 influenced greatly the development of scientific and organizational creativity of scholars. Leading members of the Academy Sergey Oldenburg, Vladimir Vernadsky, and others) who had started, long before this period, to mould the image of science as a powerful social and reforming force able to influence all spheres of social life, took a most active part in the new construction of the state, striving to reform the educational and scientific systems of Russia.
However, complex and contradictory processes of mutual adaptation of science and new structures of power that started after the October revolutions drastically changed the academic community: in the proletarian state, science became socialized, and the authorities were able to block or, conversely, stimulate the development of specific directions of research.
Despite this, the Academy of Sciences, unlike many other state institutions, did not think of directly sabotaging the steps of the Soviet power. The algorithm of attitude of academic scholars toward the authorities was unequivocally phrased by the permanent secretary of RAS, full member of the Academy Sergey Oldenburg on December 29, 1917: "Those who work in the Russian Academy of Science must say that notwithstanding the events they worked, are working and will be working for the Fatherland and for Science…"

Oligarch: Behind the scenes
Komsomolskaya Pravda, 14 September 2001 When we visited the set of Oligarch director Pavel Lungin Vladimir, as Platon, gets ready for a jaunt on an elephant to remind his contemporaries of the first oligarchs. Lungin sat next to a monitor, confidently directing the proceedings. Mashkov was just about to start the scene, when suddenly the sound of a motor was heard as the street-sweepers, who gather rubbish on backstreets of Arkangelsk, passed by. The screenplay for Oligarch was written by Pavel Lungin and Aleksandr Borodiansky, based on the novel The Big Slice by Yuly Dubov, a director of LogoVAZ. Boris Berezovsky Svadba (The Wedding) to Oligarch dachas: well-off people love to invite Chani to their parties. Incidentally, while filming the scenes with the orchestra, Chani unexpectedly began to conduct with her trunk, as if imitating the motions of conductor Sergei Skripkya. Pavel Lungin decided to include this scene in the film, so Chani was booked for one extra day of filming. Is the hero, played by Vladimir Mashkov, copied from Boris Berezovsky?

"A criminally unimaginative gangster story based on the life of notorious high-roller billionaire entrepreneur Boris Berezovsky." Reviewed by Dennis Schwartz After Plato's murder we are taken through a dizzying interplay of meetings between these ruthless businessmen and their interplay with crime figures, such as a former hero of the Afghanistan conflict, a crippled and face maimed Colonel Belenki (Steklov), who is now a scam artist who manages to deal cars for them by a scheme cooked up to avoid paying custom taxes. In the process, we meet an ambitious but obscure country bumpkin Siberian governor, Lomov (Vladimir Goussav), who gets his claws into Plato and turns viciously against him after first being promoted for high political office by him. The alcoholic Lomov (who is meant to resemble Boris Yeltsin) along with the smarmy bribe taking Koretski become the mafiosio-like businessman's worst enemies.
