Métodos cuasi-Monte Carlo en la administración del riesgo financiero Por Gonzalo Ruiz M. Monte Carlo es una denominación genérica aplicable a métodos que buscan resolver un problema generando series de números aleatorios y observando aquella fracción de números que obedezcan a ciertas propiedades. Esta familia metodológica es aplicable para obtener soluciones numéricas a problemas muy complicados o faltos de información y que no pueden ser resueltos de manera analítica. Stanislaw Ulam, matemático polaco que formalizó este enfoque en 1946 lo nombró así por un pariente propenso a las apuestas. Ulam trabajó en el laboratorio de Los Alamos y resolvió el problema de cómo iniciar la fusíon en la bomba de hidrógeno . En el ambiente financiero y de tesorería se pueden identificar dos niveles de administración del riesgo financiero donde se aplica Monte Carlo: Alto nivel: análisis de escenarios y VaR por mesas, bancas o a nivel institucional. Bajo nivel: sensibilidades de portafolios y operaciones, como parte de valuación a mercado ( mark-to-market ) y de procesos de cobertura.

Sergei L'vovich Sobolev 's father, Lev Aleksandrovich Sobolev, was an important layer and barrister. His mother, Nataliya Georgievna, played an important role in Sobolev's upbringing, particularly after the death of Sobolev's father when Sobolev was 14 years old. He studied at the Khar'kov Workers' Technical School preparing to enter the high school which he did in 1922 around the time of his father's death. The high school which he entered was called the 190 th School of Leningrad at the time although previously it had been called the Lentovskii High School. In [5] (see also [4]) it is explained that this school :- ... was founded during the First Russian Revolution by the foremost St Petersburg teachers for pupils who had been excluded from the State Schools and Technical Colleges because of their participation in the revolutionary movement. After graduating from high school in 1925, Sobolev entered the Physics and Mathematics Faculty of Leningrad State University where his talents were quickly spotted by

He was born in St. Petersburg , and died in Moscow Sobolev introduced notions which are now fundamental in several different areas of mathematics. Sobolev spaces can be defined by growth conditions on Fourier transforms; they and their embedding theorems are an important subject in functional analysis . Generalized functions, later known as distributions), were introduced by Sobolev in 1935 and further developed by Laurent Schwartz ; they redefined the notion of differentiation Sobolev graduated from the Leningrad University in 1929.
