Weddell Family Papers
MS-484 mf
Introduction The Weddell Family Papers consist of a series of Civil War era letters, written by a variety of people, to William Weddell of Scotch Ridge, Webster Township, Wood County, Ohio. The collection was loaned to the Center for Archival Collections for microfilming in February 1987, with the cooperation of Richard Sheets of Pemberville, Ohio. No restrictions exist on the use of this collection. Duplication is permitted for the purposes of preservation and research. The collection was processed and register prepared by Marilyn Levinson in March-April, 1987.
Biographical Sketch William Weddell (1839-1895) is the central figure in this collection of correspondence. His father, also named William, was an early settler of Webster Township, Wood County, Ohio. William, Jr. joined Company K, 21st Ohio Volunteer Infantry in 1861, but was discharged on Jan. 8, 1862 on surgeon's certificate. The authors of the letters to William were either comrades from Company K, or relatives:

(Image credit: Dr Tom Shanks, William Herschel Telescope/Isaac Newton Group and Calar Alto Observatory/Max-Planck-Institut fuer Astronomie) The Gemini project consists of twin observatories, in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, giving astronomers coverage of the entire sky from the North Pole to the South. Gemini North is on top of Mauna Kea, an extinct volcano in Hawaii, while Gemini South is high in the Chilean Andes. These sites were chosen because they are the best observing sites in the world - the skies are clear almost all year round, while the dry air means the telescopes can be used in the infrared as well as visible wavelengths. Like most leading-edge astronomy projects, Gemini is an international collaboration between several countries; the USA, UK, Canada Chile, Australia, Argentina and Brazil. The UK is the second largest contributor, with almost a 25% share in Gemini, and UK astronomers will receive a proportionate share of observing time on the telescopes.

    70. Michael Shanks - From Door To Door - Shanksadelic!
william H. Macy CAST william H. Macy (Bill Porter) Kyra Sedgwick (Shelly Brady)Helen Mirren (Mrs. Porter) Kathy Baker (Gladys) Michael shanks (Mr. Brady).
    http://www.shanksadelic.net/door.html
    WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
"Door to Door" is based on a true story, the one of Bill Porter. He was born with cerebral palsy, and got through life as a door-to-door salesman (hence the title).
The fate of Bill Porter is indeed an inspiring one. Not because he made a great invention or was a famous artist, but simply because he never gave up. An ordinary heroe - the most admireable kind of heroes we have.
Thanks to the support of his mum and his own will he proved all those wrong who told him he'd never be able to get a job and make a living. He did - for more than 40 years, Porter made a daily 10 miles, selling products of The Watkins Company. A daily torture, considering is disability. He finally became one of the top salesmen.
Porter touched the life and hearts of many people, being an inspiration for millions. And William H. Macy is the perfect actor to play this part. Kyra Sedgwick, wife of actor Kevin Bacon, is Shelly Brady, his assistant.
The real Bill Porter is still working for the same company - alas today he's selling over the phone or internet. Michael Shanks can be seen as Mr. Brady, the husband of Kyra Sedgwick's character. The real Shelly Brady and her hubs had 6 kids, by the way.

    Director:
    William Castle
    Cast:
Marcel Marceau, Philippe Clary, Cindy Eilbacher Director William Castle will always be remembered more for his gimmicks than his actual movies. The number of people who know about his offering of life insurance for moviegoers who went to see Macabre far exceeds those who have actually seen the movie. People still chuckle today about the gimmick behind The Tingler - electric buzzers were placed under the theater seats and buzzed at the appropriate time - but how many of them have actually taken the time to see the movie? The truth is that if you put aside the gimmicks, most of William Castle's movies were actually fairly entertaining little horror movies, and he was a competent director. This is probably most evident in the last movie he directed, Shanks . The subject matter in this movie is so bizarre and unlike other mainstream horror movies of its time (and now), that it's a real credit to him how he manages to pull it off. The movie stumbles a few times because of some weaknesses in the script, but Castle makes the movie captivating by exploiting its strangeness. Famed French mime Marcel Marceau plays the title figure Malcolm Shanks, a deaf mute who is mercilessly exploited by the stepsister and brother-in-law he lives with. The only joy that seems to be in his life comes with his skill at making and performing with puppets in front of the children in his small town. His skill at puppetry catches the eye of the old and mysterious Mr. Walker (also Marceau), who one days offers him a job in his laboratory.

RE: Qwest - example of mistreating private customer information
I am sending this out to news media at large because of my utter frustration in trying to convince the various people that I have talked with at Qwest of the severity of this issue. Qwest offers residential service to a number of states. For the convenience of customers and
identity theives, Qwest provides a web site which provides access to call history and online
billing information, along with a financial incentive to pay through the web site and avoid a paper bill.
