He wrote later about his time at the Gymnasium:- I was a good student in all subjects, loved mathematics and physics, but also the strict logic of the ancient grammars, hated only memorising incidental dates and facts. Of the German poets, I loved especially the dramatists, but hated the pedantic dissection of their works. our professor partial differential equations to dynamics, eigenvalue problems, Maxwell 's equations and electromagnetic theory, optics, thermodynamics, and statistical mechanics Mertens , function theory, differential equations and mathematical statistics by Wilhelm Wirtinger (who he found uninspiring as a lecturer). He also studied projective geometry , algebraic curves and continuous groups in lectures given by Gustav Kohn.

    Schrodinger's cat is a famous illustration of the principle in quantum theory of superposition , proposed by Erwin Schrodinger in 1935. Schrodinger's cat serves to demonstrate the apparent conflict between what quantum theory tells us is true about the nature and behavior of matter on the microscopic level and what we observe to be true about the nature and behavior of matter on the macroscopic level. First, we have a living cat and place it in a thick lead box. At this stage, there is no question that the cat is alive. We then throw in a vial of cyanide and seal the box. We do not know if the cat is alive or if it has broken the cyanide capsule and died. Since we do not know, the cat is both dead and alive, according to quantum law, in a superposition of states. It is only when we break open the box and learn the condition of the cat that the superposition is lost, and the cat becomes one or the other (dead or alive).

    Rakouský fyzik. Roku 1926 rozpracoval vlnovou mechaniku jako nezávislou formulaci kvantové mechaniky proti Heisenbergovì maticové mechanice. Z tzv. Schrödingerovy rovnice je možné urèit vlnovou funkci, která má význam amplitudy pravdìpodobnosti výskytu èástice a její kvadrát pøedstavuje hustotu pravdìpodobnosti. Za své práce získal v roce 1933 Nobelovu cenu za fyziku. Schrödinger studoval na universitì ve Vídni. Po první svìtové válce zaèal pracovat na universitì v Curychu. V roce 1926 zformuloval kvantovou teorii postavenou na vlnové funkci, která se opírala o vlnové vlastnosti hmoty objevené Louis de Brogliem . Lidstvo tak získalo vynikající nástroj pro pøedpovìï možných energetických hladin rùzných systémù. Na druhé stranì se ukázala nevyhnutelnost pravdìpodobnostní interpretace událostí v mikrosvìtì, která se stala námìtem mnoha bouølivých filosofických diskuzí pøetrvávajících až do souèasnosti. Od roku 1927 pracuje na pozvání Maxe Plancka na universitì v Berlínì. Kvùli persekuci židù opouští universitu v roce 1933 a sedm následujících let putuje po Rakousku, Velké Británii, Belgii a Itálii a mnohokrát mìní zamìstnání. Teprve v roce 1940 se usadil pro následujících 15 let v Irsku na Dublinském institutu pro pokroèilá studia (Institute for Advanced Studies). V roce 1956 odchází Schrödinger do dùchodu a navrací se do Vídnì.
