Aus der Region Südliche Rhône JEAN-MARIE ROYER Châteauneuf-du-Pape Mit diesem Château präsentieren wir Ihnen ein in Deutschland noch gänzlich unbekanntes Gut, unsere Entdeckung des Jahres in diesem Jahrhundertjahrgang! Wir kennen diese Domaine bereits seit 2 Jahren, infolge eines absoluten Insidertipps. Der renommierte Önologe Philippe Gambié, der bereits seit Jahren für unsere großartigen Domainen Pégau, Clos du Caillou und Les Cailloux tätig ist, hatte einen alten Rugbyfreund unter seine Fittiche genommen, Jean-Marie Royer, der eine schwierige Zeit hinter sich hatte. Aus einer alteingesessenen Familie in Châteauneuf stammend, verlor Jean-Marie bereits in seinem dritten Lebensjahr seinen Vater, der bis dahin die kleine Familiendomaine betrieben hatte. Um die Familie nach dessen Tod über Wasser zu halten, verkaufte die Mutter einen Teil der erstklassigen Weinberge, zudem ging ein beträchtlicher Teil durch Erbteilung an andere Familienmitglieder. Der kleine Rest wurde verpachtet. Als Jean-Marie Royer dann mit 18 Jahren beschloss, sich dem Wein zu widmen, waren nur noch wenig eigene Weinberge vorhanden. Er begann damit, gute Qualitäten bei befreundeten Winzern aufzukaufen und unter dem Etikett eines kleinen selbst gegründeten Handelshauses zu vermarkten. Mit dem damit verdienten Geld kaufte Jean-Marie Parzelle für Parzelle der besten Lagen aus dem Besitz seiner Verwandtschaft wieder zurück, bis er schließlich drei Hektar beisammen hatte. Eine kleine Fläche zwar nur, doch welche Qualität!
