http://www.siskiyous.edu/shasta/art/woo.htm
Mount Shasta as a Visual Resource
Woodblock Artists:
Early 1900s
The period between 1915 and 1930 was one of continued innovation in the portrayal of Mount Shasta. The Plein Air artists, as discussed in a previous chapter, were at the forefront of creative enterprise. At the same time, however, there were other developments entering into the art scene. The technique of woodblock printing was one of these develpments and it resulted in some of the most striking images of the mountain ever made.
Frank Morley Fletcher (1866-1949)
In 1923 Frank Morley Fletcher left his position as director of the Edinburgh College of Art to come to America to be the first director of the newly formed Santa Barbara School of the Arts. Already fifty-seven years old, he brought with him an English tradition of woodblock printing of which he himself was the major exponent. Already by1916 he had encapsulated his experience in a successful book titled Woodblock Printing The Print Makers Society of California said of him: To say anything about English blockprints and omit mention of the leader in that country's movement would be impossible. Mr. Frank Morley Fletcher was the man who brought the blockprint in England to its high development, and all English workers trace directly to his influence.

Updated by the P.O.W. NETWORK 1998. REMARKS: SYNOPSIS: When North Vietnam began to increase their military strength in South Vietnam, NVA and Viet Cong troops again intruded on neutral Laos for sanctuary, as the Viet Minh had done during the war with the French some years before. The border road, termed the "Ho Chi Minh Trail" was used for transporting weapons, supplies and troops. Hundreds of American pilots were shot down trying to stop this communist traffic to South Vietnam. Fortunately, search and rescue teams in Vietnam were extremely successful and the recovery rate was high. Still there were nearly 600 who were not rescued. Many of them went down along the Ho Chi Minh Trail and the passes through the border mountains between Laos and Vietnam. Many were alive on the ground and in radio contact with search and rescue and other planes; some were known to have been captured. Hanoi's communist allies in Laos, the Pathet Lao, publicly spoke of American prisoners they held, but when peace agreements were negotiated, Laos was not included, and not a single American was released that had been held in Laos.

All wrote some tales that are best described as "adventure" stories, with elements of crime, thrills, and sometimes mystery. Pidgin and Taylor are closest to the pure, traditional mystery; the others are further off. All had certain elements of literary prestige; none were considered ordinary entertainers. Their works stand at the intersection of popular literature, literary prestige, and early private investigator fiction in the Nick Carter tradition. Their works show elements that would later coalesce into the pulp detective tradition founded by Black Mask magazine. Other authors whose works anticipated later pulp fiction were

Our History
David Frank opened an auto supply store in Brownsville, Pennsylvania that offered a new concept…friendly service and wide selection. This idea was a hit and Frank's Auto supply was on it's way! Because of the Brownsville's store success, the new company expanded to Uniontown under the watchful eye of David's son, Morley. Frank's Auto became so successful in Uniontown that Morley decided to move his location into a supermarket sized building. That enabled Frank's Auto to well stock and display thousands of parts and accessories. NOW In its third generation of Frank Family management, Frank's Auto Supply is still as much a local family business today as it was back in 1938. Only today, the name Frank's Auto Supermarket reaches into five counties in seven locations. The company offers over 30,000 different types of automotive parts and accessories to customers in a supermarket atmosphere.

80. INTEGRITY - Genre - Frank Herbert
into February 1998, I was browsing a used book sale and spotted frank Herbert s God I share this with all of you as I send this ephemeral message to morley.
http://www.ceptualinstitute.com/genre/herbert.htm
THE INTEGRITY PAPERS - James N. Rose http://www.ceptualinstitute.com On wednesday September 24, 1997 I had an interesting serendipitous meeting with Richard Morley while I attended the New England Complex Systems Institute's 1st International Conference on Complex Systems in Nashua, New Hampshire. Actually, he detained me after the day's activities, intently inquiring who I was, since I had appeared at the proceedings quite the rebel interloper, against the standard mantra of Complexty theorists many of whom are of Nobel status. Apparently I had caught someone's attention and there was need to guage if I were troublesome to their immediate plans or not. There are many agendas in any given situation and not all of them innocent or highmindedly academic. Concepts like complexity are being applied and evaluated in realtime human systems world wide with vested interests involved. But I'll leave that for another telling.
One of the more engaging moments of Morley's and my conversation was when he suggested that if I really wanted to disseminate my ideas in a broad way, finding an audience which would pick up on my concepts and be more open to subtle influence, that I should consider writing a science fiction work, incorporating my ceptualizations. The immediate thorn would be removed, my ideas would have fertile soil, and with a little bit of good luck there would be a nice bank account to satisfy the needs of my growing family. Quite the plum.
