Although games are played, it is largely intended to be educational - to open the kid's eye to a different world, and to keep them interested in hockey. In the past, the VRD has put up about $5-7,000 for each trip, but now donate ice time for the Skate-a-thon. Would only call on the money if they fall short in their fundraising goals. People are cutting down on their donations and he may need help this time. Nino asked for a written request and for the dates of the trip. Merv will supply. The trip is scheduled for December 14th, 2003 to January 1st, 2004. The funds must be raised by July or August 2003. Peter said it should be part of the budget process and Bob confirmed that the 2003 budget has to be firmed up by the first meeting in December.
