Karp and company used it to win the 1986 Summernationals and 1986 NorthStar Nationals. This picture shows Karp launching into a huge wheelstand at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ. At the 1986 Summernationals, Karp was the class of the field. He qualified number one in a fifteen-car field. After getting the odd-lot bye, Karp turned back Carol Henson and Bob Newberry to meet rival Frank Manzo in the final. In a classic Monday rain-out final, Karp defeated Manzo, 6.38, 216.13 to 6.43, 214.54. At the NorthStar Nationals in Brainerd, MN, Karp again faced Manzo in
the final, and defeated him, 6.38, 218.44 to 6.50, 217.39. Manzo got his revenge at Karp’s hometrack, new England Dragway, during the Division One finale. Manzo outqualified Karp, then beat him in the semi-finals, 6.43-6.49, before defeating number one qualifier Dick Bell in the final. Karp finished 18th in the national standings that year."

Dave Milcarek Photo "This is a picture from a spread in a national drag racing magazine, revealing the team’s national appeal. Karp was also successful on the match race scene with the Firenza. At the 1986 Fall Funny Car Nationals at New England Dragway, Karp ran a 6.40 and a 6.39 before defeating Joe Petro in the PV Performance Corvette in a classic final, 6.44 to 6.45."

Mathematician Report Index Below is a list of mathematicians. You may choose from this list or report on a mathematician not listed here. In either case, you must discuss with me the mathematician you have chosen prior to starting your report. No two students may write a report on the same mathematician. I would advise you to go to the library before choosing your topic as there might not be much information on the mathematician you have chosen. Also, you should determine the topic early in the term so that you can "lock-in" your report topic!! The report must include: 1. The name of the mathematician. 2. The years the mathematician was alive. 3. A biography. 4. The mathematician's major contribution(s) to mathematics and an explanation of the importance. 5. A historical perspective during the time the mathematician was alive.
Some suggestions on the historical perspective might be:
    (a) Any wars etc.
    (b) Scientific breakthroughs of the time
    (c) Major discoveries of the time
    (d) How did this mathematician change history etc.

The tournament will be a League Round followed by Single Elimination Rounds with a total of four rounds projected (dependent on the number of entries). The League Round will consist of a four-player round robin, one game round apiece, and should average between 45 - 60 minutes. All players are expected to complete all three matches in the opening round regardless of results. Each subsequent Single Elimination Round will consist of two game rounds and should average 30 minutes. Players with copies of the game should bring them. Extra copies will be needed. This event has turned away players in the past and will doubtless do so again this year for lack of games. Bring a copy of the game if you expect to play! Please contact me with any questions. Initial Heat Description - See changes below The event uses a system partially stolen from the Battle Cry and Battleline tournaments where four people are placed in a group and play a round robin. The person with the best record from each of the groups then advances to single elimination with byes granted to those with 3-0 records over those with 2-1. The single elimination will consist of a best-of-three games format. Cumulative scores will be used for tie-breaking purposes.

My impulse is to experiment with water-based media on paper. It is a " WHAT IF " attitude that motivates me. If I do this, then that, what will happen ? Three considerations motivate me to use the particular technique that most excites me in art. They are freedom, risk and curiosity. These psychological aspects satisfy me personally. About the work of Carol Lyons: " Whenever I see a watercolor by Carol Lyons, I'm impressed by her natural feeling for the magic of the medium. OPINION:   Although "findings of fact and conclusions of law are unnecessary on decisions of motions under Rule 12 or 56," the Court nonetheless sets forth its analysis, in part because the case survives the rulings herein. See Fed. R. Civ. P. 52(a). - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Footnotes- - - - - - - - - - - - - - n1 Several of the parties also assert that defendant Travelers is precluded under the doctrines of waiver and/or estoppel from contending that its coverage obligations to plaintiff have been exhausted. Because the Court disposes of the case on other grounds, it need not address these issues.

The Politics of Exhibiting culture: Legacies and Possibilities
Carol E. Mayer Thesis/Key issues: The goal of this project is to produce a publication, not a standard catalogue, that will address the problematic dichotomy between what Shelley Butler in her article "The Politics of Exhibiting culture: Legacies and Possibilities" (Museum Anthropology 23(3):74) has identified as "critical and optimistic perspectives on exhibiting culture." As a curator, I find myself caught in the middle of this dichotomy. Like many curators, I was caught unprepared when the controversy surrounding the Canadian exhibition "Into the Heart of Africa" initiated (perhaps forced?) some fundamental changes to existing notions of power, authority and voice. Clearly, we are now working in a highly public politicized environment that has required us to be more reflexive about our practice. . Museum professionals have shifted to a much more collaborative approach to public representation and there is a general recognition that the exhibition is not the final word, rather it is a negotiated space where old and new ideas coexist in the spirit of collaboration.
