Thomas Heath 's parents were Mary Little, from Hibaldstowe, Lincolnshire, and Samuel Heath who was a farmer from Thornton Cutris, Ulceby, Lincolnshire. Mary and Samuel had six children, three sons and three daughters. Thomas was the youngest of the three boys and he, like all the children, was musical and academically gifted. Thomas Little Heath was named after his grandfather on his mother's side, who was Thomas Little. He received a love of the classics from his father who had classics as his hobby. After attending Caistor Grammar School and Clifton College, he went up to Trinity College Cambridge in 1879 holding a foundation scholarship. He was awarded a first class degree in both mathematics and classics. He took Part I and Part II of the Classical Tripos in 1881 and 1883, being twelfth wrangler in the Mathematical Tripos of 1882.

Heath, Thomas Little
English mathematical historian who specialized in ancient Greece. His History of Greek Mathematics 1921 is regarded as the standard work on the subject in the English language.
Heath was born in Lincolnshire, studied at Cambridge and joined the civil service. He rose through the ranks in the Treasury Office; in 1913 he was appointed joint permanent secretary to the Treasury and auditor of the Civil List, and he was comptroller general and secretary to the Commissioners for the Reduction of the National Debt 1919-26.
Between 1885 and 1912, Heath edited the works of Greek mathematicians Diophantus, Apollonius of Perga, and Archimedes. His book Aristarchus of Samos, the Ancient Copernicus 1913 is a comprehensive account of Aristarchus and his work on astronomy. Euclid's Elements 1908 is a monumental work in three volumes. And in the great History of Greek Mathematics, Heath dealt with his subjects mainly according to topics and not in chronological order as others had done before him

HEATH, THOMAS: Christening
Gender: Male
Christening Date: 2 Jan 1852
Recorded in: Ogley Hay, Staffordshire, England
Father: William HEATH
Mother: Ann
Source: FHL Film 1040781
Dates: 1849 - 1876 Thomas Heath died in Bay City, Michigan, USA, on January 31, 1939.
His death certificate said he was 84 years, 2 months, and 6 days old at his death.
This would give him a birthdate of November 25, 1854.
Each of his census records has him born about 1853 Could he be the same Thomas that was christened in 1852? The facts are these: He is the same Thomas from the census. His wife and children bear that out; In 1881 Thomas lived next door to Ann Heath. With Ann was Thomas's brother Joseph. The 1891 and 1901 census for Joseph with his son Frank, bears out the fact that Joseph was his brother; Enoch, another son living with Ann, and brother to Joseph, was also christened as the child of William and Ann Heath; Thomas named his oldest son William, and other sons Joseph, and Enoch. I think this is evidence enough for William and Ann Heath to be the parents of Thomas. How to explain the discrepancy in age? Thomas did not read or write when he came to America. He may not have known when he was born.

Thomas Morton
New English Canaan (1637), best known for its satire of Puritans in general and the Separatists in particular.
Throughout New English Canaan, Thomas Morton more often resorts to brief essays and loosely related anecdotes rather than to continuous historical narration. The lack of narrative continuity can be attributed in large part to the generically hybrid status of the text. Although it is most often referred to by critics as a promotional tract, Morton’s New English Canaan also read at times like a natural history, an ethnography, and a political pamphlet. In the first two sections of his three-part text, Morton follows the format adhered to by many other writers of promotional literature: he offers readers information about New England’s native inhabitants and its natural resources. Echoing opinions voiced by early English explorers and colonial commentators like Thomas Harriot and Richard Hakluyt, Morton argues that New England is a valuable region inhabited by friendly natives, a region that well deserves English colonization. In the third part of New English Canaan
