CSM William E. Edge Ret., died at his home in Plano, Texas, Sunday, 4/13/03. His wife of forty years and his daughter were at his side. He was 73. “Bill” Edge was born 11/17/29 in Jacksonville, FL. to William E. and Josephine E. Edge. He was the eldest of their two boys. He graduated from Andrew Jackson high school in Jacksonville, FL., 1948. He was a highly decorated veteran of Korea and Vietnam. He served for 28 ½ years all but 2 ½ years with the Paratroop units. He was a professional soldier. He was an original member of several elite and unique Army units, the Golden Knights and Project Delta, now called Delta Force. He joined the Army to serve his country and to jump. He rose from enlisted recruit and retired as the highest NCO rank, Command Sergeant Major for all the Special Forces at the United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare and School, at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He enjoyed nothing more than his time in service and was greatly distressed to not be involved with the Gulf and Iraq Wars. What would become a lifetime of care and attention to the safety of those around him began early with his duties of lifeguard, where he was credited with saving ten lives. By his own admission, he earned a reputation in high school as a “tough, cocky kid that wouldn’t back down”. He was a Golden Gloves champion. He was to say many times that he was greatly influenced by John Wayne movies and especially WWII newsreels of the Army paratroops. He had found a home for his natural propensities. He graduated from high school in June ’48, spent the summer as lifeguard and enlisted in the Army in September ’48. He was 18.

However, seeing some of the names thrown out and being like Bruce in wondering if people were serious. I figured I would throw out a name in hopes if people insist on changing from UserLinux that we don't end up with something too horrid. EdgeLinux or EDGE Linux ..net and .org are available. ..com is taken, but appears to be owned by a Linux hacker that isnt using it for anything serious. It would be likely that we could get them to consider donating it. I can not get the ustpo.gov website to resolve, but am assuming it likely is clean. So why EdgeLinux? EDGE is an acroynm for [E]nterprise [D]ebian [G]NU [E]nvironment Linux. I think this fits all of what Bruce wanted to attribute. Business quality

Here is william Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 Love alters not with his briefhours and weeks, But bears it out ev n to the edge of doom.

Introduction by Linda Gregerson October 27, 1999 Engraving of Shakespeare
by Martin Droeshout, 1623
W hen the sonnet was imported into English from the Italian, early in the sixteenth century, it was understood to comprise a set of formal conventions (fourteen lines of iambic pentameter, a fixed rhyme scheme) and, of equal importance, a set of thematic and rhetorical conventions. Sonnets came in groups, or sequences. They told a story; or rather, they refused to tell a story outright but were built around a story that took place in the space between individual lyrics. The story was of love love unrequited, love requited but unfulfilled, love so fleetingly fulfilled as merely to make suffering keener, love thwarted by the beloved's absence, or aloofness, or prior possession by another. Impediment was as central to the sonnet as was love. Impediment produced the lyric voice. Without impediment, the lover would have no need to resort to poetry; he would have something better to do. Naturally, the sonnet underwent some changes in English. It is harder to find rhyming words in English than in a highly inflected language like Italian, so Wyatt and Surrey early Tudor practitioners of the form tended to grant themselves a slight reprieve. Instead of the tighter scheme favored by Dante and Petrarch ( abbaabba cdecde or abbaabba cdcdcd ), the English favored a pattern (

William Blount boys basketball coach David Baumann tried to get his team to attack the basket all night on Tuesday against South-Doyle. As it turned out, the Governors didn't need to. William Blount (2-7, 1-3 District 4-AAA) defeated the Cherokees (4-5, 2-2 District), 62-56, on the back of seven 3-pointers five from guard Aaron Eakins. The Governors took 26 attempts from beyond the arc and only 25 from inside it, but Baumann said his team's inside presence was still pivotal. ``We played our best ball in the second and fourth quarters,'' Baumann said. ``We shot pretty well in those quarters, but we also attacked the basket more. ``You can't just keep throwing them up there and expect to win.'' Early on, it looked as though that might be the Govs' game plan. William Blount was down 17-11 at the end of the first quarter behind several South-Doyle transition points off missed Governor 3-point attempts. But then Eakins and fellow guard Alan Stewart got hot. In the second quarter, the pair scored 18 straight points for the Govs. Stewart started the run by making a pair of free throws, nailing a trey and then putting back a steal for a bucket.

Technocut is a relatively new engineering company based in Perthshire, Scotland. Established four years ago, it specialises in turning, milling and light fabrication work. To the non-engineer that means the company takes metals and turns them into the machines of the future. The staff of eight produce machines and machine parts for other manufacturers and also build prototypes of new ideas. The work is skilled and takes years to learn. It requires an ability to understand and interpret technical drawings; the ingenuity to modify plans where necessary and the skill to work accurately to within a thousandth of an inch on the machines. The staff work closely with clients to improve on their designs and to iron out problems as they arise. Sometimes it can take a giant leap of imagination to get a design on paper to work in raw metals. New Deal gave Westley and Grant an opening they needed too. Both had been unemployed for some time and were looking for a chance.
