Rafael Bombelli By Jessica Spencer Biography Rafael Bombelli Rafael Bombelli was born in 1526 in Bologna, Italy. He was the son of Antonio Mazzoli and Diamante Scudier. He was the oldest of six children. Antonio Bombelli changed the family name from Mazzoli to Bombelli after the land which had been taken from the family years before was finally returned to them. The Bentivolio family had originally ruled Bologna. Giovanni Bentivoglio II had done much to improve Bologna, especially in the development of the cities waterways. The Mazzoli family was a supporter of the Benivoglio family. However, in 1506, Pope Julius II took control of Bologna and sent the Bentivoglio family into exile. In 1508 the Bentivoglio family and its supporters attempted to regain control of the city. The coup failed and Rafael Bombelli’s great grandfather was executed along with many other people. Pope Julius II confiscated the Mazzoli land and the family lived in poverty for many years. The land was then returned to Antonio Mazzoli, and that is when he changed his last name to Bombelli Little is actually know about Rafael Bombelli’s life.

Rafaello Bombelli
(Italien,1526-1573)

Autor: Rafael Angel©
Llorar es la salida de lo amargo
que guardamos muy profundo cuando hacemos
a nuestras almas quejumbrosas y llorosas;
¡a quien quisimos tanto!

E qual è quella giusta? Proviamo a chiederlo direttamente all’inventore dei numeri complessi.
Rafael Bombelli (1526-1572), Matematico bolognese.
a ib a' ib' aa' bb' i ab' a'b
