Pernille Eskerod – current research interests 1. The Project-oriented Organization How does top management deal with a portfolio of renewal projects? I am conducting a 2-years research project (2002-2004) together with colleagues at University of Southern Denmark Anni Stagaard Toft and Bodil Stilling Blichfeldt ) and partners at Aalborg University (Hans Mikkelsen , Jens O. Riis and Jesper Rank Andersen), Copenhagen Business School (John Christiansen and Stephan Casellani Nielsen), University of Linköping Sweden , and Chalmers Technical University Sweden www.pev.cip.dk The aim is to gain a better understanding on how top management deals with the portfolio of renewal projects within an organization. Empirically the research is based on studies in about 40 Danish companies of which 12 companies are defined as the inner circle. We conduct comparative studies, following the portfolio of renewal projects in each of the companies in the inner circle for a 12-months period and making several in-dept interviews based on a semi-structured interview guide. The rest of the companies are defined as the outer circle. In these companies we conduct fewer interviews and selected analyses. All the companies are invited to participate in seminars at which specific topics concerning portfolio management are discussed. Theoretically our research rests on both a planning perspective and a process perspective. The project is financed by Erhvervsfremmestyrelsen.
