Total body water (TBW) content averages 60% of body weight in young men. Fat tissue has a lower water content; thus the fraction of TBW to body weight is slightly lower on average in women (55%) and is substantially lower in obese people and the elderly. About 2/3 of TBW is intracellular and 1/3 extracellular. About 3/4 of the extracellular fluid (ECF) exists in the interstitial space and connective tissues surrounding cells, whereas about 1/4 is intravascular. Intake: The amount of water ingested can vary greatly from day to day. Ingestion is largely influenced by habit, cultural factors, access, and thirst. The range of water volume that can be ingested is determined by the kidneys' ability to concentrate and dilute the urine. An average adult with normal kidney function requires 400 to 500 mL of water to excrete the daily solute load in maximally concentrated urine. In addition to ingested water, 200 to 300 mL/day of water is formed through tissue catabolism, thus making the minimum water intake needed to prevent renal failure quite low (200 to 300 mL/day). However, a daily intake of 700 to 800 mL is needed to match total water losses and remain in water balance (see

How Water Blasters Work
by Tom Harris Table of Contents Introduction to How Water Blasters Work The Classic Water Gun Muscle and Motors Under Pressure All Wet Lots More Information Soon after its introduction, the water gun took its place among the most popular summer toys of all time, and it's easy to see why: When you're a kid, or a kid at heart, what better way to cool off on a hot afternoon than waging an epic water battle against your friends and family? Water guns have come a long way in the past 20 years. An ordinary squirt gun can only shoot water 8 or 9 feet, but a pump-action water blaster, like this Super Soaker CPS 1200, can shoot water more than 50 feet. Over the years, these toys have evolved considerably. Thirty years ago, a typical water warrior was armed only with a small squirt pistol, which had a fairly short range and an even more limited ammunition reservoir. These days, you'll find an entire arsenal of water weapons at most toy stores, complete with water machine guns, water bazookas and even water grenade launchers.

The world of the water garden
A pond is an attractive and interesting addition to any garden. It is inexpensive and easy to construct and, once established, requires the minimum amount of maintenance. Your pond will add a new dimension to your garden. Not only will it bring light and space to ground level, but the combination of water, vegetation and shelter forms a unique habitat which will attract a great variety of wildlife to your garden - frogs, newts, pond skaters, dragonflies, pond snails, fish, water boatmen. Before you do any actual digging, you need to consider a few points:
  • your pond should be located in or around the lowest point in your garden
  • a sunny location, preferably south facing, is most conducive to attracting the greatest variety of wildlife
  • the ratio of surface shade to unshaded pool area should be in the region of 6:4
  • do not locate your pond under trees or near over-hanging shrubbery. If this is unavoidable, however, a greater degree of maintenance is required when leaves fall in autumn

    179. Filter And Purifying Water
Describes how to filter and purify water.
    http://www.therangerdigest.com/Tips___Tricks/Filter_and_Purifying_Water/body_fil
Depending on where you're stranded in the world, locating water needs to be your No#1 priority. Without it, you can't survive anymore than a few days or a week, especially in a hot desert or tropical climate.
Just so you understand how important water is, the average person needs to drink about 4 quarts/liters of water a day to replace body fluids lost through perspiration, sweat, urinating, and heavy breathing too. And as time goes on and you fail to replace these fluids adequately…that's when your troubles begin. Dehydration, exhaustion, fatigue, hypothermia, "brain lock," etc, which eventually and almost always leads to death.
And so two important things you need to remember when it comes to not having any water to drink… DON'T eat, because in order to digest food you need water, lots of it. And DON'T drink any suspected contaminated, discolored, and or smelly water neither because it could give you diarrhea and or produce vomiting thus speeding up your dehydration and death too. So what do you do if you're dying of thirst and come across some water that you're not sure is safe to drink? Well, it's entirely up to you and depends on how desperate you are for water. But if you've been wandering around for days without any water and you're starting to feel weak, delirious, and downright desperate for something to drink. You got a choice, you can either die from dehydration or risk dying from unsafe/contaminated water.
