81. ANSI-ISO PASCAL
The official ANSI and ISO standards, as well as the proposed standard for objectoriented Pascal. Also includes a list of compliant compilers.
http://www.moorecad.com/standardpascal/home.html
ANSI-ISO STANDARD PASCAL INFORMATION PAGE This page contains various information about the standard versions of Pascal as stated by the ISO and ANSI organizations (other standards organizations also exist). Also below are several references to other sites of interest to standard Pascal in one form or another.
WHY ANSI/ISO STANDARD PASCAL ? The ANSI and ISO Pascal standards are unique in that they did not seek to remake the existing Pascal language as defined by Niklaus Wirth. Instead, they simply defined Wirth's Pascal in a more formal form, and eliminated the abiguities of the original language. The first ANSI and ISO standards essentially ARE the original language. Pascal has been subsetted, modified and worse. But in it's original form, Pascal may be the most carefully constructed, documented and standardized language in existence. Pascal is, unfortunately, very much a "great improvement on it's successors", and continues to be usefull for all programming work. Available compilers: Here is your guide to full ISO/ANSI compilers that are current and SUPPORTED. The ANSI-ISO Pascal FAQ Rules of ANSI-ISO 7185 Pascal, text document

Tortoise
Standards

(Thrill Jockey) After almost a 3-year break between recordings, nearly anything that Tortoise released would find it difficult to stand up to the expectations that people have for it. Perhaps one of the best ways for the group to throw everyone off, then, is by doing just what they've done with the aptly titled Standards. Instead of going off and changing their sound too drastically, and without going back to anything that they've done before, they instead work a middle ground with the disc, taking the excellent familiar parts of their sound and incorporating some new things for a release that's new and familiar at the same time. With the exception of one or two songs on the release, you can listen and hear the group Tortoise performing the songs. That might sounds like sort of a silly thing to say, but after TNT a couple years back now, some people may have been expecting them to take yet another about-face and again end up somewhere in left field. Instead, they've arrived at a nicely composed mid-ground, and have managed to harness much more energy than they did on their previous release. Within the first two minutes of "Seneca," one may think that it's a different group alltogether. After a blast of dusty electric guitar and fuzzed-out crazy drumming, the track eventually settles into one of the best grooves on the disc. The track winds down into some strange electronic sounds (including samples of a person yelping) before drifting right into the second track of "Eros" on which the group explores some very interesting (and almost trademark for them) layered percussion while a flatulent sounding keyboard spits out some weird little gurgles over it all.

NIST SQL Validation Going Away?
It currently looks like NIST SQL testing and certification program will be terminated at the end of FY96 (October, 1996). Since the SQL testing and certification program has been a driving force behind adherence to the SQL standard, this alleged cost saving move is likely to have reprecussions throughout the SQL database industry. For more information, see the following articles: NIST's Plans For A Flying Leap, Backwards!
Current Status
Development is currently underway to enhance SQL into a computationally complete language for the definition and management of persistent, complex objects. This includes: generalization and specialization hierarchies, multiple inheritance, user defined data types, triggers and assertions, support for knowledge based systems, recursive query expressions, and additional data administration tools. It also includes the specification of abstract data types (ADTs), object identifiers, methods, inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation, and all of the other facilities normally associated with object data management. In the fall of 1996, several parts of SQL3 went through a ISO CD ballot. Those parts were SQL/Framework, SQL/Foundation, and SQL/Bindings. Those ballots failed (as expected) with 900 or so comments. In Late January, there was an ISO DBL editing meeting that processed a large number of problem solutions that were either included with ballot comments or submitted as separate papers. Since the DBL editing meeting was unable to process all of the comments, the editing meeting has been extended. The completion of the editing meeting is scheduled for the end of July, 1997, in London.

Birman Head 15 Pts Ears 5 Pts Eyes 5 Pts Body 20 Pts Tail 5 Pts 5 Pts Coat 15 Pts Texture Length Color 30 Pts Gloves Laces General: The Birman is a longhaired, long (but heavy boned) cat which strikes a happy medium between the extremes of the cobby, heavy boned cats and long fine boned cats. No single attribute is to be emphasized over the overall impression of a well balanced aesthetically beautiful cat. The cat has a good disposition and is easy to handle. Head: Skull strong, broad and rounded. Slight flat spot just in front of the ears, forehead slopes slightly back. Nose, itself is Roman in shape, medium length with nostrils set low. There is a definite stop between the eyes. Cheeks full, jaws heavy (allow for delicacy in females). There is a definite muzzle, which comes out from the rest of the head and which carries the Roman shaped nose. Fur is shorter in appearance about the face, longer at extreme outer areas of cheeks. Ears Medium in size, neither large nor small but in pleasing proportion to the head, set moderately far apart. Eyes: The inner corner of each eye should be set just to the side of the bridge of the nose at the stop.

Design now, pay later?
There was a time not long ago when many drivers thought nothing of tossing empty bottles out the windows of their cars. Years later, these same citizens came to realize that littering was not an acceptable way to dispose of their trash. The web design community is now undergoing a similar shift in attitude, and web standards are key to this transformation. Designing With Web Standards Designing with standards breaks that costly cycle, enabling you to create sites that will work as well tomorrow as they do today. It also allows you to work seamlessly with XML-based web services and tools, and can help you stay on the right side of accessibility laws and guidelines. Designing With Web Standards shows that the build-now, pay-later approach is no longer productive or necessary, and lays to rest the notion that designing with standards means leaving some users behind. In fact, it most often means just the opposite.

Allowance should be made for jowls in adult males. The profile shows a gentle rising from the forehead to the bridge. The bridge of the nose extends above the eyes and is slightly rounded. The bridge of the nose does not curve inward; there is no stop or break The nose is large and wide with a slightly puffed nose leather The muzzle should be full and broad, with large, prominent whisker pads and high, pronounced cheekbones.

Because of the longer coat the Balinese appears to have softer lines and less extreme type than other breeds of cats with similar type. HEAD: long, tapering wedge. Medium size in good proportion to body. The total wedge starts at the nose and flares out in straight lines to the tips of the ears forming a triangle, with no break at the whiskers. No less than the width of an eye between the eyes. When the whiskers and face hair are smoothed back, the underlying bone structure is apparent. Allowance must be made for jowls in the stud cat.

    Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) Initiative
Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) is a set of management and Internet standard technologies developed to unify the management of enterprise computing environments. WBEM provides the ability for the industry to deliver a well-integrated set of standard-based management tools leveraging the emerging Web technologies. The DMTF has developed a core set of standards that make up WBEM, which includes a data model, the Common Information Model (CIM) standard; an encoding specification, xmlCIM Encoding Specification; and a transport mechanism, CIM Operations over HTTP.
The CIM specification is the language and methodology for describing management data. The CIM schema includes models for Systems, Applications, Networks (LAN) and Devices. The CIM schema will enable applications from different developers on different platforms to describe management data in a standard format so that it can be shared among a variety of management applications. The xmlCIM Encoding Specification defines XML elements, written in Document Type Definition (DTD), which can be used to represent CIM classes and instances. The CIM Operations over HTTP specification defines a mapping of CIM operations onto HTTP that allows implementations of CIM to interoperate in an open, standardized manner and completes the technologies that support WBEM.
