Det sker to gange hver dag. Når solen står op i øst bliver nattens vindundere mindre lyse, set i forhold til lyset som spredes af Jordens atmosfære, og derfor forsvinder de stille ud af vort syn. De kommer først tilbage når jorden igen går ind i skygge ved solnedgang. Denne kamp mellem himlen og Jorden blev fanget af Richard Payne i et dobbelt eksponeret digitalt billede over Kofa bjergene i Arizona USA i maj 2003. Mørk støv, millioner af stjerner og oplyst blinkende rødt gas markere vores egen galakse, Mælkevejens plan, som ligger gennemsnitligt tusindvis af lysår bag Jordens bjerge. SETI@Andalucía Es un grupo de personas radicadas en Andalucía (España), con el propósito de apoyar este proyecto mundial denominado SETI , es decir, búsqueda de inteligencia extraterrestre. Este grupo no es exclusivo y está abierto a cualquier persona o entidad radicada o no en nuestra región, por tanto si su inquietud se lo permite únase a nosotros en este macroproyecto al que ya se encuentran adheridos mas 3,5 millones de ordenadores en todo el mundo. Lo único que se solicita de UD. es que coloque un salvapantallas en su ordenador el cual procesará datos sin que interrumpa, en ningún modo, su actividad habitual. ¡Ah! y sin ánimo de lucro. Resumen del proyecto "Contact," "Star Trek," "Babylon 5," "La guerra de las galaxias," "Alien," y el resto de una multitud de películas tienen una cosa en común. Todas ellas tratan de civilizaciones alienígenas y sus relaciones con los humanos. Algunas de estas futuristas ficciones tratan a los extraterrestres como amigables, otras como hostiles. La mayoría de los alienígenas son curiosamente "humanoides". Muchos de nosotros soñamos con el encuentro, algún día, con una raza de alienígenas (amigables). Es mucho lo que podríamos aprender y descubrir los unos de los otros. ¿Que estamos haciendo ahora para que esto tenga lugar? Si asumimos que nuestros vecinos extraterrestres están tratando de ponerse en contacto con nosotros, deberíamos salir a su encuentro. En la actualidad se están llevando a cabo varios programas en busca de la evidencia de vida en algún lugar del cosmos.

I have talked to people who (not knowing that I'm a staff member) have made comments relating both radio astronomy and SETI (the Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence) to some kind of fringe or cult activity involving UFOs and talking to Martians. Therefore, I have decided to put this page together to explain what it is that we do. Just in case there is someone who is a total novice at this stuff, I'll start at the very beginning. (Those of you who already know this, just bear with me.) THE BASICS Astronomy The science of astronomy is the study of the universe beyond the Earth, which includes objects such as the planets, asteroids, comets, stars and galaxies. This study is done by analyzing the energy (photons) in the electromagnetic spectrum that is emitted from these objects. The Electromagnetic Spectrum Rainbow of Colors To help visualize the electromagnetic spectrum , think of a rainbow of colors. When you see a rainbow, you are seeing light (photons) spread out into varying wavelengths or frequencies. It starts with deep violet, which is light at 0.4 microns, and extends through red, which is light at 0.8 microns. (A
