It was on October 4, 1957, that the first man-made object ever achieved orbit around Earth in outer space. The Russian satellite Sputnik was designed to measure and transmit information about the density of the upper atmosphere as it circled the Earth. Before then, all atmospheric information that meteorologists had was based on "looking up" instead of "looking down." Since Sputnik, the science of satellites has advanced significantly. Specialized satellites now orbit the Earth for telecommunications, global broadcasting, oceanic observations, scientific research, and military purposes, as well as for atmospheric observation. It's amazing to consider the rapid progress and evolution of satellite technology. Meteorological satellites themselves have changed considerably since Sputnik. Weather observation and forecasting has become much more reliable today, thanks to the sophisticated satellites currently orbiting Earth. Rotation of sun and planets
By Samy Esmaeil.

Published by Journal of Theoretics Volume 5-4, Aug-Sept 2003
Abstract. If a small body of mass (m) orbit a large body of mass (M) then ,my be we can calculate the sidereal rotation period of the large body (M) From the rotational equation.
The rotational equation can calculate the rotation period for a Star of mass(M)which circled by another mass (m).
The nine Planets orbit our sun so,we can calculate the rotation period of our sun.
Also, from the rotation Equation we can calculate the rotation period of Earth,Mars,Jupiter,Saturn,Uranus,Neptune and Pluto because all this planets are circled by another moons with small mass (m).
The rotation period of a large body is highly effected by the inclination degree of the small body orbit. 1-Introduction.: The moons are "driving" the rotation of their parent planet in the same way, as sun's rotation is being Controlled by the planets.( Franz J. Heeke;Germany) Do the planets affect the sunspot cycle? There was a paper published by the Astronomical Journal in April, 1965 ( vol. 70, page 193) by Paul D. Jose which described just such an effect. He concluded that

2 kinds of satellites watch weather
Geostationary satellites are in orbit 22,238 miles above the equator, which means they orbit at the same speed as the Earth's rotation, keeping them above the same spot on Earth. U.S. geostationary satellites are called "GOES" for Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite." Most satellite images you see on the Internet and television are from GOES if they show the Western Hemisphere or from similar European and Japanese satellites for other parts of the world. These satellites see the Earth nearly from pole to pole. Polar orbiting satellites orbit over the North and South poles about 530 miles above the Earth. Their lower orbits mean their view is more limited, but they have a more close-up view.

Satellites give bird's-eye view of clouds
Satellites orbiting high above the earth enable meteorologists to observe clouds at all levels of the atmosphere over both land and the oceans. Satellites are crucial to detecting and tracking intense storms over the oceans such as hurricanes, allowing more advanced warnings to be issued before storms hit. In addition to taking photos of clouds, satellites used radiometers to measure infrared radiation emitted by clouds. Lower clouds are warmer and thus emit more radiation than higher clouds, which are much colder. Low clouds appear gray on an infrared satellite picture while high clouds appear white. By closely analyzing satellite images, meteorologists determine cloud heights and thickness. Computer enhancement of an infrared satellite picture increases the contrast between the different cloud features and the background, which makes more detailed analysis possible.

WASHINGTON Military and private satellite snapshots of Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey reveal an anomaly that researchers say might be the remains of Noah's Ark. A soon-to-be-launched commercial spacecraft will focus powerful cameras on the mysterious mountainside oddity to help unravel its true nature. In the past, expeditions permitted to search the area for what some claim are the ruins of Noah's Ark, while failing to conclusively prove its existence, have succeeded in sustaining debate. The area itself is a geopolitical and religious hot spot, with Mount Ararat sitting in the far eastern frontier of Turkey, near the borders of Armenia, Georgia (formerly part of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the USSR) and Iran. Introduction
Satellite pictures are an invaluable tool for both teachers and students, and the various types of images that are now widely available can significantly enhance the teaching and understanding of meteorological processes and weather forecasting, especially the movement of weather systems. The first weather satellite was launched on 1 April 1960, and the subsequent launch of other observing systems has resulted in the creation of an imaging network on a truly global scale. Information is now available for inhospitable land areas and the oceans, where weather data were previously unavailable. The advent of weather satellites has also provided a continuous, automatic feed of data, with a coverage and resolution (horizontal and vertical) not possible by any other means. Therefore, we can now 'look down' and record what is happening, and make accurate predictions about what is likely to happen in the short term.
Types of satellite There are two types of satellite providing weather data.
