In Memory of Tashmoo - Rest in Peace Welcome! Welcome to Reptiles among other things! This is Pugsley here and he is the mascot of these pages. He is an 11-12 year old male Green Iguana that I have had since March of 1994. He is a really good boy. None of that ugly breeding aggression so common in the male of the species. Click on the Iguanas link over on the left to learn more about him and iguanas in general. Elsewhere on my site you will find information on a wide variety of reptiles that I keep in my home. Care sheets, pictures and links abound. Meet Pete! Pete (Cyclura nubila caymanensis probably crossed with some nubila nubila) is the newest addition to the Reptilecare family. He came as an adoption on May 2, 2003. He came from a wonderful caring family that had to give him up for a variety of reasons. We welcome him here! For now you can see pictures of him here . Sorry, still no web page for him. He is chock full of personality and I hope to do a page for him soon.

These pages are a joint effort between John Hollister of Texas, USA and John Fowler of South Australia. Both of us have many years experience as avocational herpers. Over the years both of us have kept many species of herps and have taken many pictures.
Most of the pictures are supplied by John Fowler, the pages were designed and built by John Hollister. Many of the pages are/will be written by us. Help wanted! If you feel qualified to write up a species that is not yet done or have pictures to contribute, please go here to see what we are looking for in the way of help.
Many herpers dream of going to Oz to see their amazing reptiles but will never get the chance to do so. Finding good pictures and information on Australian herps is a tedious chore; we hope to make this chore a lot easier by providing as much basic information and as many pictures as we can on one site. We want to make this the only stop necessary for Australian reptiles and reptile links.
Our thanks and credits to others have contributed to making these pages the ULTIMATE Australian reptile site.

Cocodrilos

Lagartos y Serpientes

Permitting System Who would support a national venomous reptile permitting system? Does the current “state by state” system really make sense? Take for example the City of Bristol. If you drive down Main Street, Virginia is on your left and Tennessee is on the right. On the left side of the street, people can keep any venomous reptile they like without any type of permit. On the right side of the street, the residents can not keep any type of venomous reptiles, regardless of their qualifications. Does the 15 feet that separates the streets make that much difference?

Cretaceous Jurassic Triassic Permian ... The Making of the Mural, 1942-1947 The vivid scene reproduced from Rudolph Zallinger's famous dinosaur mural The Age of Reptiles, overlooking the Great Hall in Yale's Peabody Museum, is far more than a magnificent work of art. It is also a scientific document transforming the knowledge, ideas, and thoughts of many scholars of ancient life into realistic and accurate images. The mural is one of the largest in the world, measuring 110 feet long by 16 feet high, and required more than four and a half years (1943-1947) to complete. It is at once a motion picture and a time machine, a menagerie and a botanical garden that portrays an almost unimaginable chapter of earth history spanning more than 300 million years. The animals and plants of this panorama most never having been seen by human eyes have been resurrected for our contemplation and wonderment. Here, the textbook names take on new meaning; our mind's eye perceives the reality and magnificence of unfamiliar plants and communities of astonishing animals. If we return to the motion-picture, time-machine analogy, what we see in this panorama is a composite of many moments during the 300-million-year span it portrays. Time moves in real sequence from right to left from the Devonian period of almost 400 million years ago to the late Cretaceous, a chapter that ended some 65 million years ago...
