    EMAIL ACCREDITATION PROGRAM ANNOUNCED
New database helps ISPs, Spam Filters Make Email Acceptance Decisions Compatible with SPF, MS Caller I.D., Bonded Sender, Habeas and more! SAN FRANCISCO - March 15, 2004 - The Institute for Spam and Internet Public Policy (ISIPP) announced today the release and availability of the ISIPP Accreditation Database (IADB). Using the same technology as do its controversial blocklist cousins, such as the MAPS RBL and SPEWS, which are used to reject spam, the IADB is designed to help email receiving organizations such as ISPs and spam filtering companies in making email acceptance, handling, and delivery decisions, and to help legitimate senders of bulk and commercial email to ensure that their email gets delivered, and not erroneously blocked as "spam".

    Going Critical

by Joel S. Wit, Daniel B. Poneman, and Robert L. Gallucci
    Is the Market Moral?

    by Rebecca Blank, William McGurn
In Going Critical , three former U.S. officials who played key roles in the 1994 North Korean nuclear crisis trace the intense efforts that led North Korea to freeze—and pledge ultimately to dismantle—its dangerous plutonium production program. The story of the 1994 crisis provides important lessons for the U.S. as it grapples once again with a nuclear crisis on a peninsula that half a century ago claimed 50,000 American lives.

In the great tradition of moral argument about the nature of the economic market, Rebecca Blank and William McGurn join to debate the fundamental questions—equality and efficiency, productivity and social justice, individual achievement and personal rights in the workplace, and the costs and benefits of corporate and entrepreneurial capitalism. Their arguments are grounded in both economic sophistication and religious commitment.

New Partnership for African Development, Subject of Kennedy School Case, Featured in The Economist

In his By invitation essay on "Developing Africa's Economy" in the May 20 edition of The Economist , Jeffrey Sachs makes special mention of the improvement in the quality of government on the African continent. In particular, Sachs, the former Kennedy School economist now a special advisor to United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan and a faculty member at Columbia University, singles out for praise the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD) for its concept of governmental 'peer review'through which member governments set standards for efficiency and transparency for members of the group.
Writes Sachs: "In Afghanistan and Iraq America has not withheld development assistance pending 'good governance'. It has ploughed ahead with development spending even in the midst of extreme violence and even though the respective American-backed governments in Baghdad and Kabul barely have a writ of authority that runs beyond (or even within) their respective capitals. In Africa, the options are vastly better. At an over-arching level, the new African Union, with its development flagship, the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD), has launched an enormously valuable process of 'peer review'. So far, 16 African governments have signed up."
The formation, structure and political dynamics of NEPAD are the subject of Kennedy School case and sequel entitled
