Abstract
DNW facilitates 11 Wind Tunnels for aerodynamic, aeroacoustic testing of aerospace, aircraft, helicopters, missiles, launchers, trains, trucks and passenger cars, ships, yachts and buildings.
Market Segments
The main objective of DNW is to provide the customer with a wide spectrum of wind tunnel test and simulation techniques. The test spectrum of the facilities comprises aerodynamic and aero-acoustic testing of flight vehicle models of civil and military aircraft, space craft and helicopters, full-size missiles, passenger cars and trucks, propulsion testing of turbofan engines and inlet models, propellers and prop-fans, etc. The applied test techniques covers a wide range of applications from steady and un-steady aerodynamic measurements, noise and flow measurements, engine and ground effect simulation to captive trajectory systems, drop tests and re-entry tests.
Product
Product of the individual wind tunnel facilities of DNW is defined as service consisting of preparation and execution of aerodynamic, aero-acoustic and aero-elastic wind-tunnel testing, aerodynamic high Renolds-number testing at ambient and cryogenic temperatures as well as calibration of engine simulators.

Within EADS Space Transportation GmbH, the responsibility for launch vehicle propulsion, satellite propulsion and associated subsystems and equipment, rests with the Space Propulsion division located in Ottobrunn , near Munich, Germany. Here, together with our related sites at Lampoldshausen , Bremen, Friedrichshafen and Trauen, we have been specialising in the design, development, production, and testing of space propulsion systems for more than four decades.

The EADS Ottobrunn and Lampoldshausen sites have become world renowned as the centres of European competence in the field of space propulsion systems. To further enhance this position, we are continuing to develop new space technologies, new materials and new manufacturing processes and procedures. The Lampoldshausen Centre specialises in the design, development, manufacture, and testing of thrusters and complete propulsion systems for orbital satellites, interplanetary space probes, platforms, automated logistics vehicles, upper stage AOCS systems and launch vehicle roll control systems. Core competencies are within the fields of ion, cold gas, monopropellant and bipropellant thrusters ranging from 0.02N to 400 N thrust.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. A rocket engine test at NASA There are many different methods of spacecraft propulsion used to change the velocity of spacecraft and artificial satellites . Each method has drawbacks and advantages, and spacecraft propulsion is an active area of research. Most spacecraft today are propelled by heating the reaction mass and allowing it to flow out the back of the vehicle. This sort of engine is called a rocket engine All current spacecraft use chemical rocket engines ( bipropellant or solid-fuel ) for launch. Most satellites have simple reliable chemical rockets (often monopropellant rockets ) or resistojet rockets to keep their station, although some use momentum wheels for attitude control . A few use some sort of electrical engine for stationkeeping. Interplanetary vehicles mostly use chemical rockets as well, although a few have experimentally used ion thrusters with some success.

Centrospazio is a space technology laboratory set up in 1989 in the outskirts of Pisa. Founded and directed by Prof. Mariano Andrenucci , Centrospazio was established as a part of Consorzio Pisa Ricerche (Pisa Research Consortium), jointly formed in 1987 by the University of Pisa , the National Research Council ( CNR ) and the Italian Institute for Public Enterprise (IRI). Through the consortium scheme Centrospazio retains a close link with the Department of Aerospace Engineering of the University of Pisa, sharing part of its personnel and resources and serving as a top-level laboratory for graduate students and researchers. On the other hand, Centrospazio's own staff can be tailored to the needs of ongoing activities, and its own separate administration gives it the possibility to undertake contracts and interact with industrial counterparts and funding bodies with the promptness and the flexibility of a private enterprise.
Centrospazio's facilities are primarily intended to perform experimental activities requiring simulated space vacuum. However, it hosts a variety of other activities ranging from theoretical and computational studies to other types of space oriented experiments not involving vacuum simulation. Centrospazio's premises are located in an industrial estate for the development of small to medium sized businesses, about 10 minutes distance from the city centre, main railway station and the airport.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The Caltech Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) near Pasadena, California builds and operates unmanned spacecraft for NASA . JPL-run projects include the Galileo Jupiter mission and the Mars rovers, including the 1997 Mars Pathfinder and the twin 2003 Mars Exploration Rovers. Over the years, JPL has sent unmanned missions to every planet, except Pluto . In addition, JPL has also done extensive mapping missions of the Earth . JPL also manages the world-wide Deep Space Network , with facilities in California 's Mojave Desert , near Madrid, Spain , and near Canberra, Australia Almost all of the 177-acre JPL campus is actually located in the city of La Canada Flintridge, California , but the JPL main gate and several buildings are in Pasadena, so it maintains a Pasadena address (4800 Oak Grove Drive, Pasadena, CA 91109). There are approximately 5,000 full-time employees, and typically a few thousand additional contractors work there on any given day. The lab has an open house once a year on a Saturday in May, when the public is invited to tour the facilities and see live demonstrations of JPL science and technology. More limited private tours are also available throughout the year if scheduled well in advance. Thousands of schoolchildren from around Southern California and elsewhere visit the lab every year.
