Welcome to OCHeM.com
OCHeM.com is designed to provide additional resources for students enrolled in Organic Chemistry. From the star student to the struggling sophomore, online help is just a click away. The following is an introduction to the features of this page (accessable using the buttons in the sidebar on the left).
Introduction:
Clicking this button brings you back to this page.
Webcards: Without a doubt, organic chemistry involves lots of memorization. Many students make their own notecards to aid in memorizing organic reactions. Using the Shockwave plug-in, we provide an electronic version of notecards that is sure to help students who like to learn reactions in this way.
Tutorials: Organic Chemistry is a visual science. The three-dimmensional nature of OChem is often difficult to grasp within the confines of a chalkboard or the pages of a book. Using the Shockwave plug-in, this section provides several tutorials on topics ranging from orbitals to amines. If you had trouble understanding a particular lecture or chapter in your text, these tutorials may provide additional insight.
Practice: The only way to do well in OChem is to practice, practice, practice. This section provides students with problems of varying difficulty along with answers for you to check your work.

Organic Chemistry I
This is the table of contents page for the first semester Organic Chemistry first semester course taught by Ralph Logan, Instructor of Organic Chemistry and taught at North Lake College, Dallas County Community College District. This is an ongoing project and so heavy construction will occur until the materials for this course are installed into this Web Complex. The textbook used in this course is Fundamentals of Organic Chemistry, Fifth Edition by Solomon. Each chapter will have a set of learning materials that are made available to each student that registers for this course. All of the materials are interdependent and are heavily keyed to the chapter exams. All material within these Web pages are created independently of the textbook which serves as a reference resource.

In addition, I wish to express my sincere appreciation for the National Science Teacher's Association (NSTA) for mentioning the Web site and recommending that Science teachers visit the site. That is exactly why the site was originated and is now updated. It is my desire that Science teachers at all levels might find some of my pages or links to other sites beneficial to them in the classroom. I will continue to work tirelessly in order to make this site as helpful to Science teachers and math teachers as I can. Pass the word to your teacher colleagues and your students that this site might be one that they will have use of. While you are at it, I would appreciate you signing the guestbook at the bottom of this page and let me know how this site has helped and offer any suggestions.

Some material to assist students taking organic chemistry courses and labs.
http://tigger.uic.edu/~shevlin/academics/index.html
This page is meant to be a useful reference to my students (and others, too, I suppose) in the courses that I am teaching. It is my intent that this will offer some help to students that would otherwise not ask for it and that it will offer suggestions to point students in the right direction. The material presented on these pages is meant to be a supplement to teaching and is no substitute for asking questions about confusing material. Please do not hesitate to ask when you have problems.

These Organic Chemistry webs were designed by the author when he was taking Organic Chemistry at The George Washington University. They are a series of five pages depicting generalized organic reactions, showing how to convert one functional group into another. Students who have used them have found them to be rather helpful, when studying for exam in the second semester of Organic Chemistry at The George Washington University. They also prove very helpful when studying for the MCAT examination. They are provided here in Adobe PDF format for all those who would like them for their own personal use. They may be freely distributed, assumming that they are not altered in any manner, and that no fee is charged for their distribution.

    80. Package: Areas/reasonng/chem/congen/
Developed in 1980, The DENDRAL Project delt with analysis of molecular structure in organic chemistry. The chemical and physical properties of compounds are determined not just by their constituent atoms, but by the arrangement of these atoms as well. The CONGEN program implements the general (acyclic and cyclic) generation algorithm in a system that allows a chemist to constrain its enumeration in a variety of ways.
