Welcome to our online virtual photo album of Puget Sound marine life. Unless otherwise noted, underwater photographs were taken in Puget Sound by Randy Shuman, manager of King County's Science and Technical Support group and avid scuba diver. Surface photos were taken at various King County marine beaches by Bob Brenner, biologist, and Kim Stark, coordinator of King County's marine monitoring programs. Bird photos and photomicrographs were taken by Kevin Li, a biologist at the King County Environmental Laboratory. Marine mammal photos are identified with photo credits. Thanks to all who contributed to this collection. While not entirely marine species, our new collection of bird photos offer images of some of the birds that call the Puget Sound region home. These photos were taken by Kevin Li using a technique known a 'digi-scoping'. This technique pairs a spotting scope and digital camera to capture close up images. Additional images were provided by photographer Lee Barnes. Use the upper navigation bar or click on the photos above to open the collection that you would like to view.
