Indexes
Indexes will lead you to articles in journals and series and papers in conference proceedings, as well as technical reports. There are 2 indexes of major importance for Hydrogeology: Water Resources Abstracts (WRA) and Water Resources Scientific Information Center (WRSIC). From 1967 through 1993 Selected Water Resources (SWRA) was produced by USGS. In 1994, USGS cancelled production of SWRA, and it is now available on the internet as WRSIC. The SWRA was reborn at Cambridge Scientfic as Water Resources Abstracts (WRA), with a changed coverage, but with the old file intact. Other Indexes of Interest All Indexes are Stanford Only.

Woburn Hydrogeology Data
Home Page
Welcome! This page was created as a data resource to anyone working with, or just curious about, the Woburn Massachusetts ground water contamination site featured in the best-selling book "A Civil Action" by Jonathan Harr and the Hollywood movie by the same name. This web site was originally developed as a resource for students in CE En 647 - Ground Water Modeling taught by Dr. Norm Jones at Brigham Young University . However, anyone is welcome to use the information found here.
Highlights:
Photo Gallery . Some great photos of people and places related to the Woburn case. USGS Plates . The maps related to the USGS study are now available. Complete NUS Report . The entire NUS report is now online. Including all of the plates. Virtual Tour . Take a tour of the site by viewing photos from several viewpoints. Well Logs . View of map of well log locations. The symbols on the map are linked to well log documents. Aerial Photos . Two new aerial photos in JPEG format. USGS topo map now in smaller JPEG format. I would like to thank all of the individuals and organizations that provided the data on this site, including:

E-mail: mgs@maine.gov In 1836 the Maine Legislature authorized the first geological survey of the State, thus beginning a process of geological inquiry which continues today. A modern geological survey with full-time staff and an active field program evolved by the early 1940s to meet the resource demands of a growing population and the strategic mineral needs of a nation at war. Program emphasis through this early period was on economic resources including dimension stone, ore minerals, and clay. In the 1960s and 1970s a major exploration boom was fueled in part by the survey's detailed reports on ore deposits. While economic aspects remain a part of survey programs, the burgeoning population of southern and coastal Maine has required us to refocus our resources toward ground water and coastal marine issues. By using a modern geographic information system we are improving the analysis of map information and our ability to make high quality maps available to the public. Thank you for visiting the Hydrogeology Division of the Geological Society of America Web Site. The division was founded in 1959, with the late Burke Maxey acting as Chairperson. Since that time, it has grown to be one of the largest divisions in the Society, with over 1,200 active members as of October 2002. This site is dedicated to serving the members of the Division, as well as to the beneficial use of hydrogeologists everywhere. Click on the links to the left to access our content. Let us know how we are doing, and what other features or information you would like to see here.
Hydrogeology is that branch of the geological sciences which is concerned with the character, source, occurrence, movement, availability, and use of water. The Hydrogeology Division of the Geological Society of America emphasizes and focuses on the geologic aspects of hydrogeology, recognizes the role of geology in the hydrologic cycle, and the importance of hydrogeology to society and science.
The Hydrogeology Division was founded:
To bring together scientists interested in hydrogeology facilitate the presentation and discussion of their problems and ideas;
