101. Society For Bioinformatics In The Nordic Countries
SocBiN is a nonprofit organisation for people working with and interested in bioinformatics. One task of the society is to arrange annual conferences on bioinformatics, of which the first took place April 1999 in Lund.

SocBiN is a non-profit organization for people working with and interested in bioinformatics and computational biology. The organization has predominantly members from the Nordic (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden) and Baltic (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland) countries. One task of the society is to arrange annual conferences on Bioinformatics. Next year, we will arrange our sixth conference, June 3-6, 2004, in Linköping, Sweden. The previous conference venues have been Lund, Sweden (April 1999), Helsingør, Denmark (April 2000), Skövde, Sweden (April 2001), Bergen, Norway (April 2002), and Helsinki, Finland (May 2003). SocBiN is the affiliated regional group in the Nordic and Baltic regions of ISCB , the International Society for Compuational Biology.     Medical Information Access
    Patients and medical professionals need easy access to vast quantities of medical information. The amount of information in the primary medical literature alone is overwhelming. MEDLINE, an on-line repository of medical abstracts, contains more than 8.6 million bibliographic entries from over 3800 current biomedical journals and adds 31,000 new entries each month. To help people make effective use of this information, researchers in medical information access are developing new techniques to:
