Hello my name is Dave and I live in North Florida, I’m a what you would call a Bigfoot research investigator. Someone that investigates these elusive creatures called Bigfoot or Sasquatch. I’ve been interested in the phenomenon since a kid back in the late 70’s when I first watched a show called “In Search Of”. That is when I saw the Patterson/Gimlin film for the very first time. Since before 1998, I have kept the image of that creature walking on the bank of Bluff Creek California and the thought of something like that out in the wilderness in the back of my mind for many years. It wasn’t until I started getting into the computer field and having a computer of my own, when I found all kinds of information on these creatures on many web sites that were into the research work. So in 1998, I started doing my own research work and worked with a large group. I’m now working mostly on my own now. Although, I have many friends that I met through this research work that I keep in contact with, all being legitimate research investigators. My thoughts on what this creature/species is: I believe that it’s an animal that has never been discovered to science.

What happened next was a flood of badly written items, flowing forth faster than the speed of your cable modem. The original Bob Young/Seattle Times words was hastily and harshly rewritten by wire services and electronic outlets, facts were minimized to make sensationalized copy, and outcomes have melted Ray Wallace's alleged 1958 hoaxes and family films into his being responsible for the 1967 Patterson-Gimlin footage (even though that was never said). Why is the testimony of an admitted liar, now being feted by a skeptical magician as the truth, having the newspapers believe it all? The media mixing of the lies and rumors with a few facts in the Wallace story is pushing this one to the edge. This is Ray Wallace's ultimate hoax and bitter seed. But we've seen it before. Events tend to occur, which restore equilibrium.

The stories of Bigfoot have been passed along from generation to generation and have long been chronicled by both professional and amateur researchers. According to hundreds of reports, the creatures average between 7-8 feet in height. This may have been the first sighting in Illinois, but it was not the first one in the Great Lakes region. As far back as 1839, witnesses in Michigan City, Indiana were reporting a "wild child" near Fish Lake. Today, we would call such a creature "Bigfoot".

The creatures are real enough to those who say they have spotted them - but most scientists remain sceptical about their existence. Investigator Jimmy Chilcutt of the Conroe Police Department in Texas, who specialises in finger and footprints, has said he believes he is certain around six footprints found - claimed to have been made by Bigfoot - are genuine. He added that one 42 cm (18-inch) print found in Washington in 1987 has convinced him. "The unique thing about this cast is that it has dermal ridges - and the flow and texture matches the ridge flow texture of one from California," Mr Chilcutt told BBC World Service's Discovery programme. "The ridges are about twice as thick as in a human being."
