At the heart of unitarian universalism is an understanding that each person is free to search for truth, and to name their own.
http://home.thezone.net/~avalonuu/
A New Congregation in St. John's, Newfoundland We are a spiritual community which holds central the value of a caring community.
We believe in the inherent goodness of the world, and all people.
Everyone is welcome. What makes us different from other churches? At the heart of Unitarian Universalism is an understanding that each person is free to search for truth, and to name their own. There is no creed, and no required discipline or practice. Each individual is challenged to search for their own truth; each congregation develops its own style of worship. Religious truth grows from within, and evolves. Being a Unitarian Universalist means believing in a commitment to one's self and to others. We like to describe ourselves as holistic, and optimistic, inclusive, and grounded in both reason and mystery. We meet at the Anna Templeton Centre,
278 Duckworth Street

Unitarian Universalist. Cult or Occult? Satan s Church. What We Believe unitarian universalism is a liberal religion born of the Jewish and Christian traditions.
http://www.inoohr.org/unitarianuniversalist.htm
Unitarian Universalist Cult or Occult? Satan's Church One way some people have of talking about religion is something or someone called God. Some people think God is a very important idea. And some people don't. People who think God is really important have a lot of ways of thinking about God. Some people think God is sort of like a person. Other people think God is more like a spirit, like love, or like nature, or like peace. Some religions have lots of gods, like Hinduism. Some people think of God as the sun or as a bird. There is a god that looks like a man, except it has a head like an elephant. There is a god that looks like a woman, except it has six arms So I want you to know, if you have your own idea about God and it makes you more kind and brave, that's okay, even if your friends believe in a different God. And if you change your mind about God, that's okay, too. And furthermore, if you don't know what to think about God and even if you just don't care, that's okay, too. And you can tell your friend I said so. That is not what matters most. What matters most is what you do. If there is a god, it doesn't care if you get its name right. It cares if you are kind. And that is still what matters most if there is no god.

http://ga.essortment.com/whoareunitaria_pbh.htm
Who are the Unitarian Universalists?
Unitarian Universalism is dedicated to diversity, tolerance, and freedom in the search for truth. UUs draw from many sources in their study and worship.
Unitarian Universalists believe that each individual is responsible for consciously deciding what to believe. They draw from many sources to find wisdom to support the search for truth and meaning. Because Unitarian Universalists believe that wisdom is alive and constantly changing and growing, there is no doctrine or creed required for membership. Members support each other at their various stages of growth in researching an endless variety of sources to get closer to the truth as it pertains to them. bodyOffer(17203) All men and women are considered by Unitarian Universalists to be of great worth. There is no task within Unitarian Universalism that excludes one sex or the other. They honor differences in lifestyles. Why the long name? The Unitarian and Universalist Churches used to be two different organizations. In 1961, owing to their similarities, the two organizations merged to become The Unitarian Universalists. For ease of communication, members tend to call themselves UUs or Unitarians. What do they do?

About us
The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Kaiserslautern is an English-speaking fellowship which meets every 2 nd and 4 th Sunday, except July and August at 1530 at the Southside Chapel #2 on Ramstein Air Base, near the city of Kaiserslautern, Germany. Our 2nd Sunday services usually begin with a candle-lighting and sharing of joys and concerns. There follows a children's story, after which the children retire to the meeting room for RE (religious education) activities. Then a musical interlude precedes the presentation of the day's theme, which could be a guest speaker invited to present information about a particular religion or spiritual quest, or perhaps a discussion topic of interest to religious liberals. The service closes with a piece of music and the extinguishing of the candles. The service is followed by a social hour in the meeting room, with good food, coffee, tea and juice, and a chance for lively conversation. The services are friendly to families, and the children usually enjoy the story and activities. Yet there is also time for quiet contemplation in the latter half of the service.

Tim Berners-Lee
The World Wide Web and the "Web of Life"
People have often asked me whether the Web design was influenced by Unitarian Universalist philosophy. I have to say that it wasn't explicitly, as I developed the Web well before I came across Unitarian Universalism at all. But looking back on it, I suppose that there are some parallels between the philosophies.
Where I'm coming from
Like many people, I had a religious upbringing which I rejected as a teenager: in my case it was a protestant Christian (Church of England) upbringing. I rejected it just after being "confirmed" and told how essential it was to believe in all kinds of unbelievable things. Since then I have discovered that many of the people around me who were "Christians" in fact used a sort of loose interpretation of some of that stuff, but it relieved a great tension just to say no. In fact, confirmation is when you say "yes", and well, we all make mistakes. In fact the need for the basis for Christian philosophy but without the dogma was a vacuum for many years. If you're used to other religions you might be confused by UUism being called a religion, but it qualifies I think. Like many people, I came back to religion when we had children. Why does everybody do this? Is it just that one feels that values and things are important for kids though one wouldn't have time for it otherwise? I hope not. Or is it that having kids is such a direct, strong, stark experience that it brings thoughts of life and love again bubbling up through the turgid morass which otherwise clogs our thinking? Or is it that it gives us an excuse? But for whatever, happenstance had our family living in the Boston area, where UU churches abound, and we were lucky enough to hit on a great one, with a great minister.

We believe that personal experience, conscience and reason should be the final authorities in religion, and that in the end religious authority lies not in a book or person or institution, but in ourselves. We are a "non-creedal" religion: we do not ask anyone to ascribe to a creed.
