Rosicrucianism
Rosicrucian texts Fama Fraternitatis Rosicrucian Manifestoes Ancient and modern initation Chymical Wedding - First Day ... Preface to the Rosicrucian Rosicrucianism is a modern movement begun in 1868 by R. W. Little that claims ties to an older Society of the Rose and Cross that was founded in Germany in 1413 by Christian Rosencreuz. The number of its followers is uncertain. The Rosicrucian Brotherhood was established in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, by Reuben Swinburne Clymer in 1902. The Ancient Mystical Order Rosae Crusis (AMORC) was founded in San Jose, California, in 1915 by H. Spencer Lewis. Both sects could be classified as either fraternal or religious organizations, although they claim to empower members with cosmic forces by unveiling secret wisdom regarding the laws of nature.

Colleen Ralson Pick up almost any magazine or tabloid on the newsstand and there will most likely be a catchy, well-done ad inviting one to write in for a free booklet, Mastery of Life , which outlines why one should become a member of the Rosicrucians, a Fraternal organization that possess secret wisdom that has been passed down orally from past masters. This organization spends over a half million dollars a year advertising for members, both men and women. According to William Poundstone, "The Rosicrucians, (AMORC), have about a hundred lodges in the United States, there are 26 lodges in France, 21 in Brazil, 18 in Nigeria, 13 in Canada and Mexico, 12 in England and 11 in Venezuela, and 8 in Australia," (Bigger Secretsœ, p. 33). They claim not to be a religion, but promises if one becomes a member and learns their philosophy of life and the mysteries of the universe, they can awaken ones natural talents and enable them to lead a fuller and happier life.

Egyptology, Rosicrucianism and the Quest for Immortality
by Ben Best Rosicrucian Park in San Jose, California has an Egyptian Museum. It is the largest collection of Egyptian antiquities on the Pacific Coast. Many comparisons have been made between cryonics culture and Egyptian culture, so I think it may be worthwhile to write a few things about the famed Egyptian quest for immortality through bodily preservation. It has been said that ancient Egyptian civilization was the greatest "cult of death" humanity has ever known. For 3,000 years (ending with the death of Cleopatra) over half a billion people lived in a culture which emphasized mummification of the body and an estimated 50% of those people were actually preserved. Upon assuming office, pharoahs & nobles would immediately begin construction of their own tombs the greatest of which were the pyramids. Why did the Egyptians believe the physical body is so important for an afterlife? Egyptologists speculate that it was because the hot, dry desert sand so effectively removed water and thereby reduced decay of hair, skin and soft parts of the body. Therefore, when early Egyptians saw such well-preserved corpses they felt that the personal identity of the deceased must have been preserved also. The association of preserved familiar features with the living person or animal was so deeply imprinted in the mind that it was easy to imagine that some part of the person was "still there".

Index Previous Next Rosicrucianism Julia Phillips Esoteric Legend: the Rosicrucians were founded by Pharoah Thothmes III in the fifteenth century BC. The Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne was said to have founded a Rosicrucian lodge at Toulouse in the 9th century AD, and in 898 AD a second lodge was founded. Around 1000 AD a group of heretical Catholic monks established the first Rosicrucian college which flourished until the 16th century. It has also been claimed that the Brotherhood of the Rose Cross was founded by Templars after their order was disbanded by Pope Clement. Historical story: The Fama Fraternitatis appeared in 1614 (written in 1610), describing the foundation and purpose of the Society (Broth- erhood) of the Rose Cross. This related that a Father CRC, born in 1378, a German, poor but from a rich and noble family, made a pilgrim- age to Jerusalem. He remained at Damascus through ill-health, and studied there. He later travelled to Damcar, where he was trained by the Arabs, and translated the book "M" into the Latin tongue. He then travelled to Fez, and after two years to Spain, where meeting with ridicule, he returned to Germany. After five years he calledthree of his bretheren to him, bound them by an oath, and then founded the "Fraternity of the Rose Cross". They later initiated another four members, and decided to spread the word to other countries. Their by-laws were that they should heal the sick without charge; wear the clothes of the country they visited; every year upon a certain date should meet, or be represented, in the "House of the Holy Spirit"; each should search for a worthy replacement for when he dies; that the letters R.C. would be their mark; that the Order would remain secret for 100 years. It was later also decided that burial places would be kept a secret. It is known thatJohann Valentin Andreae, a Germantheologian, wrote at least one of the so-called Rosicrucian documents, but how much can be laid at his door is not known. It is also an esoteric legend (with some grounds in fact) that whilst an historical character called Andraea did in fact exist, that the Rosicrucian writings attributed to that person were in fact the work of Sir Francis Bacon. The three major objects of the Rosicrucian Fraternity are: 1) The abolition of all monarchical forms of government and the substitution therefor of the rulership of the philosophic elect. (This demonstrates that the Rociscrucians are, in fact, Platonic, despite their proclaiming themselves Christians.) 2) The reformation of science, philosophy and ethics. (Materialarts and sciences are shadows of the divine wisdom; only by penetrating the mysteries of nature can man attain reality and understanding.) 3) The discovery of the Universal Medicine, or panacea, for all forms of disease. In 1646 Elias Ashmoleand astrologer William Lilly foundeda Rosicr- ucian lodge in London based upon a utopian ideal of the creation of a new Atlantis. 1742 Next: Vernal Equinox Ritual from OZ (Julia Phillips)

Rosicrucianism Compared with Freemasonry Larry Kunk - a former Rosicrucian Scripture was used to document the teachings of Satan and how the spirit of Anti-Christ is recognized. Teachings contained in Rosicrucian Monographs were examined. The spirit of Anti-Christ is easily recognizable. A group of Rosicrucian symbols were documented. At that point, the presentation was turned "inside out." Those same symbols are well known symbols of Freemasonry. The teachings of Freemasonry were considered. When the details of the Masonic plan of salvation are examined, the Rosicrucian character is apparent. Once queued past the title, there is no mention of Freemasonry until half way through the presentation. It should be quite interesting to a Freemason. It should ring a lot of bells before he realizes that the teachings of Freemasonry are to be examined. Rosicrucianism and Freemasonry are incredibly similar. Rosicrucianism and Christianity
    by Charles Weber
Is Rosicrucianism a religion? Not in any traditional sense of the word. But it is religious. It espouses Christianity, but a Christianity not yet conspicuously in evidence. What is religion? Etymologically the word means to bind back, which suggests religion's function: to return man or turn man (convert) to God, to redirect and raise his mundane consciousness to the object of its rightful contemplation. Generally, religion means theism or belief in God. Rosicrucianism thus serves a complementary role to religion. It aims to facilitate and strengthen human Godwardness, to remove barriers that may exist between the believer and God. For Rosicrucianism, the main barrier is ignorance. And for modern man, that ignorance is born of pride and materialistic thinking. Rosicrucianism was given to humanity in anticipation of the inadequacies of traditional religion to contend with evolving humanity's increasingly demanding and logic-driven intellect. The overriding concern of the Brothers of the Rosicrucian Order was to "make no statements that are not supported by reason and logic." Modern man wants to know why he should believe before he will consent to try to believe. Max Heindel was chosen by the Elder Brothers to meet that need. The Rosicrucian Cosmo-Conception (hereafter RCC) is the result. It is not dogmatic and appeals to no no other authority than the reason of the reader. Traditional religion does not appeal to reason. It simply demands acceptance of and implicit faith in its pronouncements. But in the Cosmo and the Rosicrucian Christianity Lectures (hereafter RCL)
