The Ecumenical Councils
First Ecumenical Council Nicaea I SITE: Nicaea (in N.W. Asia Minor) YEAR: A.D. 325 POPE: St. Sylvester I, 314 - 335 EMPEROR: Constantine I, The Great, Western Roman Emperor 306-337; Sole Emperor 324 - 337 ACTION: Called by the emperor and ratified by the Pope, this council condemned the heresy of Arius (priest of Alexandria, d. 336) by defining the CONSUBSTANTIALITY of God the Son with God the Father. The Son is of the "same substance," homo-ousion, as the Father (St. Athanasius); not merely a "like substance," homoi-ousion (as with the semi-Arians); nor is He (as Arius taught) some sort of super-creature. NOTE: St. Athanasius, Doctor of the Church (d. 373), Bishop of Alexandria, was present as deacon and peritus at Nicaea; exiled five times and excommunicated by the Arians. St. Ephrem, Doctor of the Church (d. 373), deacon, was also present at Nicaea as peritus. HERESIARCH: ARIUS. Second Ecumenical Council Constantinople I SITE: Constantinople (near Bosporus, a strait in today's Turkey).

Welcome to the Roman Catholic Church in Kazan
Spanish version Russian version After the horrors of the spiritual devastation during soviet times, a group of Argentinian priests arrived in Kazan, the capital city of Tatarstan in the Russian Federation, so as to reconstruct the Catholic community. Upon the ruins of the failed communist aims, not in our own name, however, but in the name of Jesus Christ and of the Church these priests preach the Word of God and not their own foolish opinions. The Word of God penetrates more than a two-edged sword (Heb. 4:12), that same Word, which will not fail to exist (Mc. 13:31). These young members of the Institute of the Incarnate Word don't celebrate "their own liturgies", but rather the Eucharist of the Lord as the Church celebrates it, so as to proclaim his death until he returns. They sacrifice their own lives in the most beautiful and pleasing of all sacrifices: the consecration of oneself for Him and for the Gospel (Mc. 8:25). You have a short story of the parish in Spanish in this site . And a long one in Russian in this one The Institute of the Incarnate Word in the "Apostolic Administration for Catholics of the Roman Rite of the European Russia", is not only active in Kazan, but its priests pastorally care also for the cities of Nabereshnye Chelny (Republic of Tatarstan, 230 km from the capital) and Buguruslan (Russian Province of Orenburg, 570 km from Kazan). Roman Catholic Divorce Issues
It is the joy and curse of being Roman Catholic that your faith remains in a fishbowl. This is no more true with respect to any issue than with divorce. There is no shortage of media discussion of the approach Roman Catholic priests and lay persons take to divorce, annulment, and remarriage. For a look at all the faith perspectives available, click here The Archdiocese of Philadelphia has an informative web site. Check out their page on the Metropolitan Tribunal . It has lots of information about annulment. You could also check out the New Advent Catholic Supersite , which has a good collection of articles. Here's a thorough tract on Divorce and Remarriage from the Catholic Answers Home Page . And a nice exploration called " When a Marriage Fails " from the Center Point Newsletter in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Here's another paper on Remarriage in the Church (including a description of something called the "Internal Forum") from the Association for Rights of Catholics in the Church Here's a site called OnceCatholic.org

Composed of roman catholic, Protestant and Jewish investors, the ICCR sponsors shareholder resolution discussions and promotes environmentally and socially responsible practices for companies.
http://www.iccr.org/
For over thirty years the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR) has been a leader of the corporate social responsibility movement. ICCR's membership is an association of 275 faith- based institutional investors, including national denominations, religious communities, pension funds, endowments, hospital corporations, economic development funds and publishing companies. ICCR and its members press companies to be socially and environmentally responsible. Each year ICCR- member religious institutional investors sponsor over 100 shareholder resolutions on major social and environmental issues. The combined portfolio value of ICCR's member organizations is estimated to be $110 billion Since 1974, the Multifiber Arrangement (MFA) has governed world trade in the textile and apparel industry. On January 1, 2005 the MFA will expire. Without it, many poor countries that have benefited from quotas will be forced to compete with producers elsewhere. Thousands of apparel factories are expected to close and millions of workers could lose their jobs.

Roman Catholic Church, Catholicism
General Information The Roman Catholic church, the largest of the Christian churches, although present in all parts of the world, is identified as Roman because of its historical roots in Rome and because of the importance it attaches to the worldwide ministry of the bishop of Rome, the pope. Several Eastern Rite Churches , whose roots are in regional churches of the Eastern Mediterranean, are in full communion with the Roman Catholic church. In 1980 there were some 783 million Roman Catholics, approximately 18% of the world's population. The 51 million Roman Catholics in the United States (1982) constitute 22% of that country's population. These statistics are based on baptisms, usually conferred on infants, and do not necessarily imply active participation in the church's life nor full assent to its beliefs. A growing estrangement between the Catholic church in the West and the Orthodox church of the East in the first millennium led to a break between them in the 11th century, and the two regions diverged in matters of theology, liturgy, and disciplinary practices. Within Western Christianity beginning with the 16th - century Reformation, the Roman Catholic church came to be identified by its differences with the Protestant churches.
